Anyone know if there are any fansubbing groups working on this title (Tonagura!) right now? It looks really good.

Just saw episode 1.
Spoiler for Episode 1:

SinsI 2006-07-08 16:19

Episode 1 - story follows first chapters of manga very closely, so no comments about the plot.
Unimpressive opening and ending songs; seiyu fit their characters quite well.

Can't say anything about art and animation quality - the raw was really shot.

Were you watching the same thing I was watching. First half of the episode wasn't in the manga and a character that's not in the beginning of the manga. At least they didn't tone down the perverted scenes of Yuuji. :)

They just depicted that tension at the beggining of the manga and prolongated it over a couple of minutes. Story-wise they added nothing.

Tonagura seems like a winner!

It's a loli!

It's a teddy bear!

No, it's -

<gets shot>

Intriguing. Very intriguing.

CaiSter21 2006-07-09 01:16

so is any group planing on subbing this?

froinlaven 2006-07-09 01:24

Watched the raw. Seems like a nice change from the whole wimpy childhood friend cliche. Also, did anyone notice the blatant haruhi opening ripoff?

Full Impressions here.

ShadowClone 2006-07-09 01:32

Wow, a nice twist to the "long-lost childhood friend reunion" that is overused in your typical anime! I've always hated weak-willed, lame-ass guys who obviously like the girl but are too shy or afraid to show it!

If you like a girl, "jump" her I say! :naughty:

This twist and ecchi/fanservice galore? I'm in, hell yeah! :heh:

Kensuke 2006-07-09 03:04

I hope that some group will sub this, but nobody hasn't announced it yet, according to this site: http://fansub.andrewlb.com/pukiwiki.php?Summer%202006

Screenshots look good, and I haven't watched fanservice shows for a while. :p

My thoughts exactly. After seeing too many Tenchi Muyo/Love Hina wannabes recycling the same thing, this is a fresh change (plus the fact that the show seems pretty much centered on the female lead than the male lead, like it was her story). And besides, unlike in Love Hina with case of Naru/Keitaro and their love/hate relationship, Kazuki has every good reason to "Naru-punch" Yuuji, and it's actually fun to watch him get pummelled.
/me will stay tuned for the subs.

Decel 2006-07-09 17:30

Ah, hearing good things about it. I'll need subs to watch it, but it's already nice to see that this might avoid the trainwreck tsuyokiss seems to be headed for.

I hope it's at the same level as -or higher than- Zero no Tsukaima
