Well, I bet ol' Lovecraft is spinning in his grave right about now. Still, I've never seen Cthulu in any anime so maybe it might be something original? I won't hold my breath though.

EDIT: Amazon JP has a 95 second cartoon up.

Ever since I watched the ONA (which was freaking hilarious btw) thing I was wondering if this would get an actual series, and I literally was talking about this with someone else the other day ...

_eternal 2010-08-04 19:56

I vaguely recall wanting to see a TV series adaptation after watching the ONA, although I don't remember if it was actually funny or not. Either way, it's impossible to go wrong with a premise like this :3

According to ANN, the actual TV series is scheduled for winter season. But I have not seen an official confirmation yet.

That the second anime adaptation will still be a ONA.

Starts earlier than most series in the season...that's nice. But that promo art in the blog has me worried:

The character designs used in the flash ONA, they better not use them again for the TV series. The light novel has great designs and those look kinda "cheap" in comparison.

Does anyone have Drama CD of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san?

OkamiNoKaze 2010-11-08 02:14

Seems an interesting Premise

dark998 2010-11-08 03:04

After minor research I discovered this won't be a normal anime adaptation like I was expecting. Won't write it off yet because it may turn out amusing like the ONAs, though.

Kagayaki 2010-11-08 03:10

Oh. How is it different from normal? ANN said it was a TV series... are they like short episodes or in a weird airing schedule or something?

dark998 2010-11-08 05:03

Yes, short episodes in flash format. DLE (the studio behind the project) does that kind of stuff.

Can someone else confirm this or dark can you specify your source(s)? I'm really looking forward to this anime and I would hate for it to be short flash animations like the ONAs.

I did take a look at DLE and while they do a lot of flash animations, I remember seeing on their site that they did other animations as well.

dark998 2010-12-01 13:47

Confirmed for 5 minute episodes, 11 episodes in total. Twice the runtime of the ONA, but still a short series.

FindALight 2010-12-03 19:52

Aww... I wish it was full 26 minute episodes... oh well, time to find some new anime (still gonna watch this though). Thanks dark.

dark998 2010-12-10 20:10

Just aired today. Such a tease by the studio, because the OP has normal animation and character design, while the episode itself is flash with slightly chibified characters.

Wasn't expecting this to start so quickly, but I can afford to take five minutes out of my Friday to watch cute Lovecraftian horrors.
