MangaGamer licenses Da Capo, Suika, other ero-games for English release
Mod Edit: This thread was extracted from the D.C.P.C. translation project thread where it originated. Direct link to the news for the impatient.
I heard DaCapo is being English localized/licenced (before the end of the year), I guess this project will have to be closed if that is the case... at least the current translator of this project will get an extended break. |

Hopefully, it'll come up at the Circus panel at Anime Expo this week. If it's true, can we expect it uncensored? lol

Just finished both of mangagamer's trial games, the translations were borderline... but ahhh we'll finally tell if this is legit in a couple of days or not. Like most others here I've been wanting a reason to get this game - may(?) finally have it.
Edit: after some careful consideration, how could anyone have seven titles (I think it's seven?) translated without any income unless they have heavy corporate backing... makes you wonder? |

A brave soul (obviously not me <_<) has purchased and downloaded a game. EDIT: Main writeup updated with a link to screenshots. PS: Should all this discussion be moved into a separate thread? I think we've pretty much derailed from talking about DCPC... |

As I thought about this last night, I realized that this is probably "too realistic to be fake" -- the mediocre translation quality, quasi-shoddy website, timing of the announcement, two arguable big-names with a lot of arguably "C" titles, and so on. If this were happening for real, this is probably the way it'd happen. I only wish that we could do something to encourage them to improve the quality of the script, but in this tiny market this all we can hope for. I only hope that people really do purchase this time, and don't just drive this company out of business like Hirameki who went before it. |

From what I understand, these games will require online activation? If that's true, I might just pass on them... That's much too annoying. BTW what I'm refering to is the activation pics of their screenshots.

That said, I think it'll be tough for potential customers to trust a sketchy service that just appeared overnight. |
heaven forbid that you would get a blister on your little pinky finger from typing in a few letters and numbers.
the real problems would be #1 not having a physical copy of the game, unless its cheap this is a problem. charging full price for virtual media never sells well. (unless you work for apple) #2 if the game license restricts you from activating the game a certain number of times. I can understand pirate protection but I myself have 3 computers and crashes with reformats are quite frequent. see problem #1. |
I decided to do a WHOIS check on the site...
(Edit: read encubed and someone already did that as well) |
