Gainax: What the hell are you thinking?

All sorts of awesomeness.

The new, the weird, the quirky, that is my domain, plus, it's Gainax. I'm in.

Best anime title ever. The heroines better wear it.

Given the team behind this, I expect the series to shock and surprise with how awesome it is.

Killer production team. Don't disappoint Gainax.

...Well, considering the director, it ought to be pretty awesome.

I hate the concept, alot.

It might turn out entertaining still knowing Gainax and the people on the team, as long as it's a short OVA like FLCL.

How can you hate it when it's like two sentences? It's the most basic of basic premises.

Give it some time and wait for more information on the show to come out before forming such a negative opinion already.

Their loli named Panty and Stocking, that's reason enough.

Actually, it said one of them is Goth Loli (which is a clothing style, not a character type), and until we get some sort of image, we have no clue what the hell either of them look like. I can't challenge the names, but in the world of anime, such naming practices are hardly uncommon.

Because that automatically means that they're going to be awful characters, right?

This is the first show Gainax has actually hyped since TTGL, and the director is Imaishi. I don't see it being bad, at least.

Most of the time with that archetype especially, they are.

As I said, hate the concept, but the team has a good record.

Why are you guys calling them "loli"? We haven't even seen the characters yet!

I personally am very wary because it's Gainax. Heck, even when everything is going well mid-season for a show, I'm still wary because it's Gainax. Dunno, their particular failure at one anime adaptation has left me once burned, twice shy of the studio. :heh:

Not that's necessarily a bad thing mind you. After all, they can only go up if my expectation of them always starts low lol.

As for the anime itself... hmm, if they do a parody/homage to what makes Magical Girl anime great like they did with Gurren Lagann to its Mecha genre, then I can see this taking off rather spectacularly. Just avoid monster of the week (ugh, hated that part of TTGL, to the point where I think the movies are better BECAUSE they didn't have them), and they should be good to go.
