From my limited investigations (ie. Google Translating the Wikipedia article), I have found out that besides the colorful cast of characters (the whole "three sisters" angle does sort of remind me of Minami-ke, though this is a different beast), it appears to have a sort of prominent Super Sentai show-within-a-show. That's all it takes to convince me.

Kunagisa 2009-11-30 20:17

I was highly skeptical coming into this topic because art isn't that impressive, but I found couple volumes of it floating around so I started reading the first one.

I must say the analogy to Minami-ke's pretty accurate, except they're triplets and are all equally "abnormal".

I'll probably update this post on another date but it's pretty entertaining so far. I must say it's not too entirely different from other gag manga though.

EDIT: there's a lot of perverted humor =O, me like.

Never knew Mitsudomoe was the original title for this manga. I enjoyed each volume released so far, I will try the anime for sure!

Indeed. Sometime (often I should say) it's really borderline. Those girls have no moral/decency at all...

stopped reading there

Research, research. While I have no doubt that it was meant to be a play on words, what with the triplets and some elements of moe and all that, the term holds more than one meaning.

Traditionally, a mitsudomoe is one of these:

It's also a colloquialism for a three-way struggle, which again, appears to be descriptive of the series.

Language is a very flexible thing.

On another note, I had a small laugh at the official website's "Ask questions to the triplets" section. Someone asked "What are your thoughts on global warming?" Hitoba had no idea how to answer it, and was left muttering something about Gachiranger.

Three-way struggle is actually one of the Chinese translation for the title.

Hahaha, I didn't know they have Q+A thingy on the website, that is totally hilarious (also lol @ someone asking what to do to be Mitsuba's slave).

Judging by the character designs alone, this series will probably be walking the fine line between cute and pedo. :heh:

don_Durandal 2009-12-19 15:09

No way, they're animating this?! Now I've seen everything he he.

The manga has been translated in French (under the title "Les Triplées"). I find it quite funny, in a nonsensical way (mostly because of the triplet's antics). Don't be fooled by the design though, it's not for kids.

Midonin 2010-02-21 23:34

We've got a season (summer 2010), a director (Masahiko Oota, director of Minami-ke's first season) and a studio by the name of Bridge. I can't find anything on them.

Midonin 2010-03-31 21:10

Promo is go.

Midonin 2010-04-30 09:45

And now, our cast of characters:

Mitsuba: Ayahi Takagaki
Futaba: Satomi Akesaka
Hitoha: Haruka Tomatsu
Satoshi Yabe: Hiro Shimono
Miku Sugisaki: Chiwa Saito
Yuki Yoshioka: Aki Toyosaki

Midonin 2010-05-20 21:40

Singers for the OP and ED (also, my fourth post in a row):

The OP is sung by the Marui sisters (Takagaki, Tomatsu, Akesaka.)
The ED is sung by Saori Atsumi. It's been a while since she had a single.

Midonin 2010-05-22 23:33

Fifth post.

If anyone wants a preview of the vocal performances in the series (at least for Yabe and the Marui sisters), the Drama CD preview is worth checking out. If anything, I continue to be surprised at Haruka Tomatsu's vocal range. Hitoha is the stoic one, and she carries the performance well. From feisty (Nagi) to energetic (Lala) to demure (Kisaragi) to "desu wa" ojou (Christina), she's covered almost every archetype.

Plus, I enjoyed Hiro Shimono's manic voice work as the girls' teacher. Memories of Akihisa. Also surprised at Ayahi Takagaki as Mitsuba, though upon further thought, the role syncs better with the type of characters she's played better than I thought at first.

ZODDGUTS 2010-05-22 23:50

Bridge seems to be a new studio hopefully they'll be able to keep the animation good for the entire series run, the preview looked pretty good.

TJR 2010-05-23 12:46

Most "new" studios today aren't actually new (in the sense that they're usually formed by ex-producers at established studios and draw from the same talent pools. It may look like there are many new startups, but in actuality, there isn't much fresh blood even if the corporate entities change), so it'll be interesting to see where they hail from.

Some of the associations are as follows:

David Production (Ristorante Paradiso, Bantorra) = Gonzo
Hoods Entertainment (Aki Sora, Qwaser) = Gonzo
Encourage Films (Ontama) = Gonzo
Lambda Film = Gonzo
GoHands (Princess Lover, Mardock Scramble) = Satelight
Silver Link (Tayutama, Bakatest) = Front Line
White Fox (Tears to Tiara, Katanagatari) = Oriental Light and Magic
Ordet (Black Rock Shooter) = Kyoto Animation
Kinema Citrus (Higepiyo) = Production I.G.

MisaoFan 2010-05-23 14:41

I hope than Deadman Wonderland will be produced by Satelight.

stevency 2010-06-05 18:48

Just got the CD in my hand, all i had to say is: the CD is just the appetizers for the main dish hopefully.

I'm quite suprised that Minorin have a cast in this show.:p

The comic is just awesome(NSFW might be an understatment if you understand the inside jokes). Makes me wonder how will this goes when goes on air. :eyespin:

All sorts of epicness but hopefully not in the Kodomo no Jikan direction if you get what I mean.
