Synopsis in the following is stolen from wiki:
In the year 2022, the Virtual reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) Sword Art Online (SAO) is released. With the Nerve Gear, a VR Helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds. But an unexpected event occurs on November 6, 2022 when Akihiko Kayaba, the creator of SAO, prevents the players from logging out. Akihiko issues them a challenge; if they wish to be free and log out of the game, they must reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, should their avatars die in the game, so will their bodies in the real world. As the game's 10,000 players try to accept their new deadly predicament, Kirito, a skilled player who tested the beta version of the game, is determined to reach the 100th floor and be free. Along with Asuna, his partner and love interest, and their friends, Kirito and his allies will face many obstacles and discovers the true purpose of SAO. As their adventure continues, they will also participate in other VRMMO games as well.

So there are three SAO mangas.

The first is drawn by Tamako Nakamura which began in September 2010.

The second is drawn by Hazuki Tsubasa which began in May 2012.

And the last one is a 4koma comic by Juusei Minami which also began in September 2010.

But for some reason, even though Nakamura's manga has just ended in May 2012, the manga has yet to be released in Graphic Novel format. I can't even find it on Amazon Japan.

The 4koma comic is so adorable. Not a fan of the rest, though. :/

Utsuro no Hako 2012-07-13 09:58

The one I looked at was really bad -- the battle scene was incomprehensible and there was a shot of Asuna screaming like a girl in a horror movie.

The 4-koma is cute, however.

Well I managed to find more manga chapters. (not sure which of the manga pointed out above it is, but it's not the 4-koma) It's on chapter 8, and has reached.........chapter 16 of the novels.

%@&^$&^#%&^$@&*&^@!@&()@!#$*! :love::love::love::love::love:

So.....yeah. :heh:

Lol, yeah I found that out. :heh:

I actually don't mind the artwork that much. (I actually think it's sorta good, meh :p)

EDIT: There's a page missing from chapter 8 on that site. >.> You can tell because there's a scene change with no transition. And the page number in the bottom corners of the scans skip from 359 to 361. >.>

EDIT 2: Found it. After using the Chinese characters from that first site I had and copy+pasting into Google, I found several sites with the 8 chapters. And they were all missing that same dang page. >.> I found a link in the comments for one of the sites and typed that in Google, found it.
I don't know how several different sites could have unintentionally skipped that page, but there was absolutely nothing on it that warranted it be left out for censorship sake.

And that is how I want to see chapter 16 animated.

I liked the 4-Koma better. All the references made me LOL. XD

But the 4-koma isn't an actual adaptation of, say, the delicious novel volume chapter 16.

Official works are always better. :p Because they're official. :D

Not to mention which, the majority (if not all) of those fan-comics are hentai. :heh:

Oh so you DIDN'T want a Ch. 16.5 adaptation? :p

Still the transition between 16-17 felt awkward without it LOL.

They'll fix that in the anime.

Of course I'm still hoping they animate the novels faithful to chapter 16 in the first place. :heh:

The 2nd and 3rd Episode of the Anime show content that seems to take place chronologicly before the Manga - don't know which one it is - really kicks in (After the indroduction timeskip)

Does anyone know how much of the LN (or VN? I forgot) was skipped here?

Deltaray 2012-07-21 20:45

Basically all side stories If my memory server right when I just browsed manga fast in like 10mins some time ago.

Shinji103 2012-07-21 23:46

The manga just follows the order of events as layed down in the novels (starts at chapter 1 of volume 1, goes on from there), as opposed to the anime which is (unfortunately quite poorly :() including the side stories in chronological order.

There's actually a pretty good Ch 16.5 adaption out there already... if you know where to look... :p :p :p

Poised to be even better once the artist releases the full-color version at Comiket 82!!

Actually I think I've seen that one. The one with the various parameters right? Still full color SAO is starting to become a standard due to the previous releases. xD

Oh then I have not seen this particular fan adaptation. Would be keeping a lookout for it.

Edit: Found it. It's totally brand new. O_O
