All we know is that it's a TV Series premiering next year. No info on the universe.

People on Reddit already speculating that the title might be signaling that we'll get a female lead. Do you really think we'll get it?

It does not seem to be a sensible place to build a space colony. You can't funnel resources from Mercury because it's hostile, and it takes a long detour from Earth

How do you support a space colony in that area

so they are either an alien or an actual witch. xd

Woah, usually the name for series have something like Wing, SEED, 00 or UC 0079 as indicator its a separate universe from others.

I guess with IBO now Sunrise decided Gundam running the title like Code Geass that is [Franchise Name] + [Story Told].
If so, the font style might be a hint as well considering IBO got jagged katakana with red highlight while this one is stylish font like one used for magical-themed fictional works. Wouldn't mind a magic-powered Gundam with similarity to Escaflowne; we lack Gundam with cape and abnormal weaponry since G :D

Yay! A new Gundam series! Felt like it's been a while since we've had a proper new series with all the Build Divers anime's :D.

Kind of curious about what it'll be about. "Witch From Mercury" implies magic or some kind of special girl from Mars. Either the main character or the female lead, one would assume. Maybe she can summon the Gundam or something? Or it'll probably be less actual magic and more Newtype-esque powers :eyespin:.

I hope so, it’d be a nice change of pace.

We went to Venus in Reconguista no G, started on Mars in IBO and now we have something to do with Mercury. Looks like the Gundam franchise is no longer bound by the gravity of Earth. :P
Maybe the witch refers to Gundam itself rather than the pilot.

There are times where other planets may be closer, but Mercury is the closest the longest.

Yeah, but since Mercury is much closer to the Sun's gravity well, a trip to Mercury take much longer.
For example, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter was launched on August 12, 2005 and reached Mars on March 10, 2006. The BepiColombo probe to Mercury was launched on 20 October 2018 and is expected to orbit Mercury on 5 December 2025, with a first flyby on 2 OCtober 2021.

Don't know why, my immediate thought about this title is....the show could play it out like Princess Mononoke for some reason? (even tho I did not really watch that film at all):D

The main character is the earthling and he meets the mysterious female gundam pilot who claims that she came from Mercury....

Yeah, that's what I'm expecting more than an actual witch. Unless we're getting full-on fantasy Gundam :heh:.

But yeah, it's safe to assume the witch isn't an actual witch. I thought that was a given.
