The Japanese technology news source ITmedia reports that five companies will launch ai space, a 3D virtual world where users can interact with bishōjo game heroines from Clannad, Shuffle!, and D.C. II: Da Capo II, this summer. Headlock (Detective Evangelion, Neon Genesis Evangelion Battle Orchestra) is developing the world which will have characters from the game developers Visual Art's (Clannad), Omegavision (Shuffle!), and CIRCUS (D.C. II: Da Capo II). The Dwango online service provider will support the service's infrastructure. Each game franchise will be recreated on its own virtual island.

Each users will be able to create his (or her) own avatar as well as select one bishōjo character as a personal character doll ("chara-doll"). The avatar and the chara-doll can then live together on one of the islands — complete with a house and furniture that they can be buy. The chara-doll will be able to wear different costumes (based on in-game items), memorize various motions to act out, and dance. The developers claim that each chara-doll can develop a unique personality for each user.

The different islands will be connected by a tentatively titled "Akihabara Island," where the different avatar/chara-doll pairs can gather for chatting and events. Dwango's Niwango subsidiary plans to incorporate the Nico Nico Anime Channel from the Nico Nico Douga online video service (which boasts over 6 million users) into the virtual world. On the real-world Nico Nico Douga site, the companies have posted a teaser video that was presented at the last Winter Comic Market convention. The singer KOTOKO (Shakugan no Shana, Please Teacher!) will perform the first theme song.

Lol this looks so evil. I'm not the type to say that games corrupts, but I say this is one of them. o_O Kinda like 2nd life it looks like it will go past the fun part and go to the point where it's just sad. :heh:

The day it's released is the day Japan is going to stop. :heh:

a new video :)

The video does not show actual "in-world" footage, but it does show promotional 3D representations of girls from the franchises of software developers Visual Art's, Omegavision, and CIRCUS.

Ai sp@ce is planned to be an online interactive community service in the fashion of Second Life, except it will feature bishojo game characters in 3D! So far the game titles involved in the project are: CLANNAD, Shuffle, and Da Capo II.

New promo video on niconico. I uploaded it on youtube :).
It reminds me The Sims :p

zSolaris 2008-09-19 16:39

Oh Lord.

I hope this doesn't come out before summer. I'd probably spend way too much time in it. >.<

C.A. 2008-09-19 16:42

I'm never a true bishoujo gamer, the only ones I have are Haruhi's and the Lucky Star, oh and Code Geass. I cross over to those games because of their anime.

But I'm quite interested in this one lol

The setting of the atmosphere is quite similar to that of Shin Megami Tensei: IMAGINE, except it features visual novel gaming rather than MMORPG. Looks great!

nikorai 2008-10-15 08:29

2 questions.
I registered using my niconico details.
Also, I got a registration number by email and they told be I should carefully keep it.
But I have a feeling I'm at the end of the line.
The registration is still open. The main site says "早い者勝ち" (aka first come, first serve)
Downloaded the pack of updates but that thing doesn't wanna let me in.
Says - このメールアドレスでは、まだログインすることができません。
"You can't long in from this address yet"

Micchi 2008-10-16 01:50

I just finished patching too and it wouldn't let me in. I had to read over the main page a few times to realize that they're only letting the first 53k people who registered in at the moment. I'm awaiting my turn so I can try it out...

nikorai 2008-10-16 13:57

Well I'm actually facing the same thing. I came too late and now I'm at around 70k in the line.
入国応募番号 1~53000 "subscription numbers for entrants are from 1 to 53k"

kyouray 2008-10-16 15:37

I'm in the 1~53000 but it doesn't work. My laptop is without doubt too powerless. I should try with another computer.
