Here in this thread we are discussing the manga Air Gear, created by Oh! Great, the author of Tenjou Tenge and Majin Devil.

Air Gear is published by Kodansha in Japan and by Del Rey in the USA, which means that it is licenced and cannot be distributed here on AnimeSuki.

The purpose of this thread, however, is to discuss the manga itself.

For those who are unaware of it at all, here's what the covers look like



As of today, here's how much of this manga has been released.

1) In the US - full volume 1
2) In Japan - full volumes 1-14 and chapters 1-137 in magazine form.

i know tenjou tenge was redrawn and censored in the US version by CMX. anyone know if they are doing the same for Air Gear or is all the artwork still in its original?

What happened in 138 if it was released? did it continue...

OK. I can answer that. Supposedly, and I stress this... supposedly, this is Mr. Minami, Ikki's father.

The correct answer would be: "I don't know". However, I do think that perhaps it is Mr. Minami. (I know it says "Makoto Kikuchi" on that image, but bear with me)

As for chapter 138, it won't be out until the middle of next week. Unless someone steals a copy from the wearhouse, of course. 8)

Is it 14 volumes of this manga? Is it finished?

I just bought the first volume of the manga because the art quality was so poor in the anime. And I absolutly love it! I am glad I did!

No, 14 volumes are what has been published in tankoubon version, the first of which has been released by Del Rey.

Individual chapters are approximately up to volume 16, and the end has not been sighted yet. It could easily go up to 20 volumes or something.

Yay! Air Gear manga thread!

I'm seriously addicted to Oh! Great's art since Tenjou Tenge. He's one of those mangaka whose art has evolved in a positive way IMO.

And I adore Ringo. I know a lot of guys are annoyed with her, mostly because they prefer Simca :heh: , but how many times do you see a heroine who has the balls to fight the hero, especially when she loves him?
I also like that she has convictions, and she'll stick to them no matter what.

I also like Ringo better than Simca, although Simca is sometimes cute in her silliness. But my favourite characters are Kazu and Benkei.

Kazu most people already know and Benkei is going to appear pretty soon, somewhere in volume 12.

If that is Ikki's pops, I wonder what role he'll play in the series....?? I mean the pic I posted was during the Bucca fight when Ikki was having a flashback about being put down or something. Maybe he'll appear later in the series.......or maybe he'll just be forgotten and was just there for that one scene.......

In my opinion, it would seem awefully close to what going on with Tenjou Tenge right now, especially with Souhaku. 8)

Although Air Gear and Tenjou Tenge do have major parallels going for them, it would still be a little too blatant for Oh! Great.

That's what I was thinking..........I mean maybe OG has a thing about the main character having problems with good ol' dad.....:p

Yeah, and I just picked up volume 14. God, I love all this fan service.

if he's not Ikki's dad, so what's the connection then.............

I was actually only commenting on MrP's naming error with regards to the scan he provided. As for the identity of the man shrouded by shadows shown in your pic, I have not the slightest clue. MrP's guess is as good as mine. Air Gear is still far from coming to an end, so it's possible that this character will be revealed in the future. I do have a personal theory regarding this, but its validity is questionable so I won't say anything just yet. Unless someone wants me to spill, I'll keep quiet for now.:)
