Dealing with anime collections

Hello.

I'm wondering if I'm the only one having this problem...

Over the years I've collected a fair amount of anime/manga and related stuff, be it VHS tapes recorded from TV, DVDs and tons of digital anime and fansubs. Right now I have noticed that it's kinda difficult to keep track of it all.

How do you do to deal with your huge anime libraries? I'm wondering which is the fastest, easiest and reliable method to catalog it all. I suppose using some sort of database or organizer would be the best way.

I say this because I have noticed I've even lost some of my tapes and CDs O_o And I don't want that to happen ever again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried listing your anime collection using word or excel?

Keops 2003-11-13 09:28

Well, I'm currently using Excel, but due to the big size of the list (over 500 entries) it's gotten quite messy and sometimes hard to look up. Maybe you should combine the datasheet with some sort of catalog or ID number and keep the CDs arranged so you don't lose track of them...

What do you think?

You could maybe try to create a database, it would make things easier.

well for dvds there is dvd profiler (my collection for example http://www.dvdprofiler.com/mycollect...alias=TheZeppo )

, there is supposed to be another free program that does movies, music, comics and other stuff, but i don't have it.

i keep a list of all the anime i've download and it's been very easy up to now. I use a program called printfolder which creates a list of files on any directory into a text file. All i have to do is put it in an excel list. See my list if it's any help.

I use DVDProfiler. Only problem is I have some R2 DVDs that are not in their database. No fansub listing either. :heh:

it wasnt anime we organized but my dad organized all of his movies in something like excel or access and then labeled them on each movie.

you might wanna put some plastic covering over them if you dont want to mess the covers up with the label

Yay yay, make a document to list all anime you have. I have one, this way I can control my anime database.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'll try to follow your advice.
