[3DS] Fire Emblem Awakening

Think this is the 13th title of the Fire Emblem series. So far a Japanese and European release have been confirmed.
The game will be released in japan on the 19/04/2012 and sometime this year in Europe (probably Australia as well)

So far we know that the game wil have two heroes, this is one of them
and the second one is your Unit.

The game will also feature DLC. These DLC, if i understand correctly, are distributed as set, containing new episodes and maps. So you don't just by one map, but a new story.
In japan the first DLC will be available on the same date as the game and available for free until the end of May 2012.

Okay, that trailer? It just makes me suspect it's going to be a new Akaneia/Archanea/whatever-based game, since the continent shown right after Emelina sheds a tear looks suspiciously like Akaneia. Also the shield at the end looks like the Shield of Seals

Hmm yeah, did you noticed the masked character?

Eh, could be. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it was his "Suspiciously Similar Descendant." Or it could go the other way around and masked dude could be Anri, Marth's ancestor and Awakening winds up being a prequel to all the Akaneia games. But I think that option will be the least likely one.

If this is a sign of what's to come with nintendo dlc, then I'm all for it. Give people who bought the game at launch, access to free dlc. Though, it begs the question if the practice will be carried over.

I just hope it gets a U.S release.

Definitely getting this if it gets localized... They really need to make another console FE game... RPGs on a console are always a much better experience overall than on a handheld.

I would mind a 3rd game featuring Ike on nintendo's next console. Anyway fire emblem made it on most systems, besides n64 and GameBoy, so I reckon IS will be working on something on nintendo's next home console.

I hope not. His story's been told twice-over already. They'd be really stretching for anything further, which would be ridiculous to do when they can just make a new world like always.

That would be awesome. Still my favourite FE game, and the pairing system was a real blast.

As for this, I'm liking the overall plot points we got. It seems to feel like a solid FE story. The graphics look good, but I don't think I'll ever be able to seriously say "yay, 3D" for characters in a FE game. I really liked the sprite work the series had before, but oh well. My Unit is also a nice addition. I just hope the overall classes are a bit more balanced, because often times in FE12 you'd find yourself struggling not to pick the most powerful ones with MU.

Goddamn. This just HAD to be for the 3DS, the system I don't have. Dammit.

It won't. Nintendo doesn't usually cross pollinate their systems like that.

Don't worry, most people here don't have a Japanese 3DS anyway, and given NoA's stance on games, that's likely the only way you'll get it. NoE, however, might make it worth owning a European 3DS.

hm I didn't think of that. That would be more interesting.

This is one of the times I regret buying NoA's 3Ds.

I heard that Shadow Dragon didn't do well during it's release, and knowing NoA, there's fat chance of having this game localized. They didn't even localize Shin Monsho no Nazo, so yea...better not get the hopes up.
