I really surprised although little by little hints were thrown. Didn't expect to see Soushi's death and that Renshou was the only survivor. It broke my heart when we discovered it, he must have suffered a lot, and now he's with their reincarnations who still are young (or even younger like with Nobara and Watanuki)...
And Watanuki been friends with that asshole! And he's so cute.

and wat happened to Karuta!!

In chapter 15 Karuta was cursed and she couldn't go back to human form. The bad guy, Inukami, was trying to create a revival/ceremony that involves the half-demons. Anyway, there's a big fight and everyone dies except Renshou. All of them reincarnate, of course, and the story continues after a time jump of 23 years.

Now, all the reincarnated characters remember they previous life, except for Soushi and Watanuki. At first Ririchiyo didn't remember either but after she saw Renshou a bit of her memories started to come back, and some time after that Kagero talked to her and basically forced her to remember everything. After that, Ririchiyo broke up her contract with Soushi, because he isn't the Soushi she felt in love with and also to protect him, as the incident that killed them all is going to happen again soon, and Soushi got cursed when he died so he's fated to die again in the exact same way.

that just ruined all of inoxboku for me :( how could they do that!?
Did karuta reincarnate aswell?

Well, the part of the story that was animated was only the prologue, and it was meant to make you feel for the characters as much as possible. It's only natural that you would feel like shit about all the drama that comes after, but that's the author's intention in the first place.

The eventual happy ending will be the more sweet and satisfying because of all the hardship, don't you think??

Yeah, although, she's now 20. Well, since her personality is pretty much the same it doesn't make much difference.

Inu x Boku SS would take such a dark turn after chapter 15 or so. But it makes the story all the more interesting I think - and for the author to capture our hearts for the character with the first "prologue arc" works really well because with this dark twist, I really feel for the characters.

If Ririchiyo dies due to the attack in chapter 34 I don't know what I'm gonna do:(

The three has the power to send someone to the past. Inukami went to the past for some reason, and Kagerou followed him to stop him. It should be noted that went someone travels through time with the three, their existence gets removed from the time line, which means that that person will never be able to reincarnate along with those he loves. In other words, Kagero sacrificed himself by touching the thee. Now he will never be able to be with all his friends anymore.

I still have hope since Inukami wanted to go to the past for some reason, so maybe both of them can return to the future? How can Inukami be more and more hateful? (although I liked his interactions with Watanuki)
Waiting for new chapter is so painful

Karuta is Watanuki's SS so they do share many moments, especially when Karuta embarrasses Watanuki in front of his friends. I also like him acting all tsundere to Karuta's love

either the first timeline again since Inukami and Kagerou are going to the past or another timeline since we don't know how far in the past they traveled...

Karuta stops Kagerou from going back to the past saying that she doesn't want him to be alone, that together they will a find to stop Inukami and they'll all age together (god I nearly shipped Karuta x Kagerou)

Watanuki suggests to send a letter to the past to warn their past selves. Everyone is surprised but they agree.

Renshou starts getting nostalgic and says that when he opened the letter he wrote back then (the one in anime episode 12, manga chapter 9) he was surprised about the random contents it had. Nobara asks him if he was the one who most suffered and he replies her that he was able to move on during these 23 years since he had other friends and even got married and had children! But even so, he could not forget them.

Karuta tells Watanuki about their past lives (he still doesn't remember it). She isn't scared of reincarnating again because she read the letter that past-Watanuki wrote and it said that he loves her and no matter how many times they will be reborn, he will always be there to protect her:) An embarrassed Watanuki denies all that

Ririchiyo is in the hospital recuperating from Kuroe's fight and Soushi is crying besides her, asking her why he protected him; if he did it because he looks like the previous Soushi. Ririchiyo confesses that indeed she doesn't love him, she stills loves the previous Soushi but she treasures him and that maybe if they had more time she would ended up loving him to.

The scenes changes to the past (anime episode 12, manga chapter 9) where Renshou is digging a hole. The chapter ends when the cook's son finds a time capsule (the one sent by their reincarnations from the future).

Inu x Boku SS, end of the Second Chapter "if"

So aaaall these past chapters are like some sort of AU where they fail to stop Inukami. It also means that we're back with the old characters (I can finally ship again Karuta x Watanuki and Nobara x Renshou because in the "future" their age gap was too wide)
