What do you mean with separate pictures? The background behind Takano? The japanese releases always have an background image behind the character, it's just omitted from the English release. Like this:

In my opinion, I don't like Karin as well.
Hinase is now busy with Umineko manga, Yutori is with her own manga... Among of those 7 artists, if I can I would choose Mimori.

They could have picked another artist from Katarabanashi-hen. Oh well...
