The Order: 1886 (PS4)
I saw this being discussed in other threads, but I felt it only fair for it to get one of its own.
One of the new titles shown as due for the PS4, this one takes things back to late 19th-century London, and across to an alternate world where a shadow war against inhuman creatures is underway: A developer interview was posted as part of the PlayStation Blog's E3 coverage: Personally, I hope that, if this is intended to be the beginning of a new game franchise, there might be room for a spin-off title on the PS Vita at some point. |
That looks very interesting.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this was, "This feels like Hellgate London!"
|
The most impressive thing I found was how fluid the character animation was, great to finally see essentially lifelike movement without residual jerkiness or slowdown.

This game looks really cool. The graphics look amazing. Definitely something I'll be interested in once I acquire a PS4.

Warning! Warning!

Why do I get vague vibes that this is sorta like Victorian London XCOM? :heh:

I'll admit I had doubts about how far PS4 could go visually, but this game is making me cast those doubts aside.

Is that Yuri Lowenthal as Nikola Tesla?

varying levels of gameplay huh...seems this is more like the RE6 with 1886 "weapons" :heh:

|
Well that was disappointing.
Despite looking like a Steampunk Gears of War, this game is short. Spoiler for Later in the game:

Well, I'll start this today, I'll post impressions later, but I was already warned that campaign is short-ish (8-10 hours on hardest difficulty), lets hope the gameplay mechanics and graphics can carry this...
EDIT: Well, so far after 1 hour or so or playing I'm starting chapter III, the división of unskipabble cinematics and gameplay was about 50/50, meaning 30 long ass minutes of cinematics, gameplay seems standard (even repetitive at times), and graphics are really good, there's just this one detail that bothers me a lot, the guy has no reflection on mirrors, the mirrors were coded and do reflect the room, but either they got lazy at the end (kind of like in Last of Us the mirrors were not coded to reflect) or my guy is a vampire... Also, really diggin Tesla and his hatred of Edison :heh: |
