And please, don't tell me this is if the first time someone has noticed new BGM material. New BGM material has been appearing since the second episode of Kai.

I know there's been new tracks, but I don't recall hearing the ones in this episode before. Or maybe my excitement is interfering with my brain.

yueah, i meant 3rd, but yes, its been very obvious since then. I just dont want to wait for the new ost!!! btw, does this end the arc, i wasnt really paying much attention to detail, and i dont want to rewatch it.

Teppei is interrupted by the phone call and isn't exactly thrilled by this, leaving satoko severely beaten (she has bruises everywhere, her face included. in fact, her mouth is slightly bleeding)

The call is of course one of the consultant of the child agency, having some questions for Satoko. Teppei tries to make some excuses, but the consultant is persistent enough, and he goes looking for his niece
Teppei tells to satoko she has a phone call, however, he "subtely" threaten her as he is her family, and satoshi's room might be in bad shape if she screws around. He also press her shoulders with forces. Satoko understands and pick the call

Soon, Keiichi picks the phone instead and tells her that they succeed to change everyone's mind, even the Sonozaki. Keiichi is very excited by this. Then Rika picks the phone, assuring her the village no longer bully her. Satoko doesn't believe that, and Rika (in her kuro mode) admits she didn't believe it either, but Keiichi proved he could beat fate. Teppei is still behind her and strengthen his grip on her shoulders. Rika talks about Satoshi and the fact he did "that" for her, and it shouldn't be a trial. Teppei doesn't understand quite much and begins to glare at Satoko. She begins to panick a bit, and the consultant takes back the call, asking once again if Teppei is abusing her. Satoko finally asks them to be saved, Teppei instantly reacts, yelling she betrayed her.
Satoko is "back to normal", and yell at teppei to go away, that this house is hers and satoshi's, and she hates her. As she is yelling him to go away once more, Teppei slaps her, yelling "what's that stare huh?" He grabs her head, slams her down and is about to punch her, but he is interrupted by some men who knock on the door. This is the police. Teppei opens the door and is instantly abducted by the men. Keiichi is worried, but Ooishi assures him everything is okay and he contacted his men with his talki walkie.

Teppei is taken into custody. Satoko is with a policewoman and everyone is there. Satoko burst in tears, rushes towards rika and both hug each other. And then, the watanagashi festival...

Everyone rush immediately to the tayakoyaki stand, while Rika and Hanyuu talk a bit. Both notice the Festival is even lively than usual, and Rika is simply happy, and joins the rest. However, Hanyuu stays behind, reverting back her sad expression.

In the night of watanagashi, Rika talks once again with Tomitake and Takano. Tommy is still wondering why they would be killed. takano is amused and says it is probably the curse. Rika foretells them that Tomitake will scratches his throat to death (hemorraghe shock) while Takano will be found somewhere in the mountain, burned in a can. Tomitake is wondering if it is the "LEVEL 5" for his case, but assures her he will be fine. Takano wonders if Rika made a dream. Takano says everything will be alright and Tomitake will protect her. Rika then wonders who will protect her if both of them are killed. Takano says the yamainu will keep their job on, but Rika isn't exactly persuaded. Both tell her that Irie is still there.
They really don't take Rika seriously and she leaves them. Despite they don't buy what she said, Rika won't give up

Rika then explains the facts to Ooishi, who wonder where she knew about this. Ooishi understands it might be the fifth year of the curse (Tomitake is killed, Takano is missing). Ooishi understood her emssage and will do the necessary. Rika is relieved, and tells him no one aside him believed her, and Ooishi then says it is his job so.

Rika is in front of the shrine with everyone else, and tells them that Tomitake and Takano will be killed tonight. Keiichi is alright with this, and suggest them to look for Tomitake, first.

If you don't want to be spoiled any further, DON'T READ the PART B. it is HUGE.

Spoiler for PART B:

Everyone escorted the couple, and Tomitake assures them it is okay now. Rika is still worried about them. The groups greet each other good night, and leave. Rika is still really worried.

Tomitake is packing his bag, and asks Takano to tell Irie about Rika, which might go paranoid. If something happens to her, it might be bad for them. Takano suddenly puts her hand on his, and tells him she loves him.
They don't have much time, and Takano mentions about her dream.
Takano wants to make the curse of Oyashiro-sama as a reality.

Tomitake says "no way...", but Takano confirms his doubt. Tomitake stands up immediately, and takano was expecting this reaction.

Takano says it is part of her job and opens the door, and the yamainu infiltrates immediately the room. Takano mentions they were sent by Tokyo to "diffuse the bomb", but they can also make it explodes.
Tomitake is completely shocked and doesn't want to believe this. He knows what would happen if they do this, and Takano confirms this.

Tomitake tries to convince Okonogi (the leader of the Yamainu?) but takano is amused, since the Yamainu is HER troop.
The Yamainu then restrain Tomitake on the ground.

Takano is delighted, but asks once again if Tomitake would follow her. Tomitake doesn't want to be a comrade/accomplice. Takano then shows a syringe. Takano begins some delirium speech, while Tomitake is helpless, knowing his incoming demise.

Tomitake is put in the chest of Takano's car. She then gives to the Yamainu their orders. Takano drives the car, but notices a police car, which doesn't help her plan. She keeps going.
She stops someplace ahead, and unload Tomitake, and his bike.
She then says once Tomitake will wake up, he will goes to LEVEL 5 and die. It will fit the Curse.

Takano is wearing a black suit, and drink a tea in a operation truck. One of her men reports something about Tomitake's corpse. Takano doesn't mind, and asks to go on on their plan, but the Soldier is a bit hesitant. Takano is in her delirium.
The solider understands, and is about to leave. But takano stops him and asks how was her cover for her "death", and he explains that they burned a body and put in a dram can around the mountain.

The police found tomitake's corpse. Kuma is reporting the details, while ooishi conclude it is the fifth time. Irie is present and doesn't believe it, and doesn't WANT to believe it.
Takano is awaiting the massacre...

Complains : the tracks were a bit off, especially for the first part, while the later part sound too recycled.
Also, the transition between satoko's conclusion and the festival is a bit fast, but it isn't too bad.

Praises: The big impact of Satoko's case (TAKE THAT TEPPEI). Rika's fight, despite "everything look normal". She doesn't take things easy.

Aside of this, they really wanted to put a slow but sinister mood of the change of the event.
Rika did everything she could do, and it is obviously a dead end...

An excellent episode, and frankly, next week will be a killer.

Yeah this episode had a really nice transition with the victory for Satoko followed by the unfolding murder plan.

I may need to watch it again!

Yet again the musical score for this series is played at the correct times, just like the first series. Kawai has always created such tracks that let out the right level of emotion for that scene, and they're used perfectly in this show.

Hmm...well, another great epsiode, besides the minor points that went on too fast, the epsiode is nicely done.

We are now finally into the anti-climax of the story, and the real meaning of Minagoroshi-hen will soon take place. Some parts still went too fast, namely Satoko's rescue, and espically Tomi's struggle.

It's good to see Dr.Iri at the end, but he really could've talked more. It's good that they will spend more time at this anti-climax portion, since the coming epsiodes will be just as epic than what happened earlier in the arc.

Because they didn't choose to use it, plain and simple.

It would have been nice for the game music (like what Kyoani do with there Key adaptations), though i'm perfectly happy with a new Kawai score. I love his work, especially when it fits perfectly in Higurashi.

Well... it is hard to say.
Frankly, i don't mind Kawai's new tracks (which are much more effective than those used for S1), but some time, it is just over used or too dull.
I'm especially referring to Satoko's outburst and hug.... to be quite blunt, the tracks were like... well a dull drama for some powerful moments. These are the only scenes i would complain in this ep for the BGM.

I do have to agree about the music. It's no where as powerful as those found in the games, hell even Matsuri's soundtrack is much, much better.

But still, some very nice moments in this episode. I still gave it a ten despite the failings this episode had. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
