Is this woman spinning clockwise or counterclockwise...? *hint* Look at the shadow below to switch directions.

Ice Climbers 2007-07-02 19:17

Clockwise, or so I think

Gah I'm getting dizzy

Midorii 2007-07-02 19:38

I say it's clockwise

KholdStare 2007-07-02 19:38

Wow, I can see both and switch back a forth after a while. Quite cool.

Ice Climbers 2007-07-02 19:43

Yes same after looking at it for a while she spins both ways :eyespin:, but I would still say it's clockwise

Furuno 2007-07-02 20:17

Judging from the feet position i guess it's clockwise...

Epyon9283 2007-07-02 20:28

I'm going to have to go with counterclockwise.

Risaa 2007-07-02 20:38

No matter how long I stare at it, I can't see her going in any direction except clockwise...

chhayalak 2007-07-02 21:24

I say clockwise as well... but I'm sure there must be a catch??

shiro83 2007-07-02 22:16

I see only clockwise.

How do you guys see the counterclockwise bit? The hint doesn't help me much...

Vexx 2007-07-02 22:22

I initially could only see a counterclock direction... it took some work to remap the visual input to a clockwise motion.

WanderingKnight 2007-07-02 22:47

I can't see it spinning counterclockwise.

MidnighT-WolF 2007-07-02 22:56

I can see both and switch when I want to, just needs a little bit of concentration :) ...

Gundam Zero Force 2007-07-02 22:56

It's going counterclockwise for me . . . . .and now I am dizzy :uhoh:

Spark 2007-07-02 23:24

Wow.. that's really cool! At first I could only see clockwise for like a good five minutes but after just kinda staring forward without really focusing on the image I was able to flip it to go counterclockwise. For those who can only see it one way.. try just kinda looking forward, not really focusing on the image but just kinda seeing it in your peripheral vision. Eventually you'll end up seeing it just being an image that goes right and left, and with a little concentration you can flip it one way or the other. Awesome find!

that's probably some indirect reference that our visual cortex processing is wired in some diametrically opposed way :) :) :)

Areguzanda 2007-07-03 01:46

lol
for me it's going both ways.
though I can change the direction when I want just by change my focus :D
cool!

wingdarkness 2007-07-03 02:05

It goes clockwise for a little while then it reverses...Definatley not a mystery for "L" :o

felix 2007-07-03 02:42

I only see it clockwise, too lazy to damage my eyes to see the other version. :p
Personally I like the more instant effect type, stuff like after image is too tiring.
Stuff like simple 3D effect, real-life impossible objects and color/size/etc variety.

If you guys like optical ilusions you can get them by the ton at http://www.moillusions.com/

Edit -- Heh.. I accidently saw it right after writing this.. the trick is to not look at her legs.

arcadeplayer987 2007-07-03 12:45

counterclockwise, look at the right leg
