I was just looking at ufotable's website (they did the anime for 2x2 Shinobuden, Dokkoida, and Futakoi Alternative) to see what they're working on now, and the only thing listed under "current works" was something called "Manabi". Unfortunately the Manabi site is all Flash-based and since I'm kanji-impaired I can't run it through Babelfish...at first glance it looks kind of like Ichigo Mashimaro, but does anyone know if this is going to be an anime series?

Manabi Straight! is based on a manga thats serialized in the young men's manga magazine Dengeki Daioh.

For now there are 2 volumes released of this manga.

Interesting--I hope it does get made into an anime series, it'd be fun to see ufotable's take on an Ichigo Mashimaro-type show. I'm probably just getting ufotable withdrawal after re-watching Dokkoida for the nth time. :heh:

I have a good feeling about this although this is the first time I have heard about this title! The story is based on a manga by Atsushi Ogasawara which is serialized in Comic Dengeki Daioh. The animation director for the series is going to be Atsushi Ogasawara who will also be doing the character design for the series. The opening and the ending theme song will be performed by Megumi Hayashibara. The synopsis in the following is taken from animenfo:

The story takes place in 2035, 30 years later from now. Because of the number of children decreases, many schools are in peril of continuance. A student transfers to such a lifeless school, “Saio private high school”. What kind of wind will this active student, Amamiya Manabi, bring to the school?
