Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)
Yes, its stupid... but I'm thinking a really fun bit of stupid in an alternate history sense where vampires exist :)

This is the point where I can only assume that people have really run out of new concepts...what's next, Joker Nixon?
|
What's next is the adaptation of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, I think.
The book was released before this Lincoln thingie, but the movie won't come out until next year at the earliest. |

It's clever, because he was a vampire himself.
It will be a psychological drama, focusing on his troubled mind and his ultimate decision on which side he belongs. Get ready for 120 minutes of intense self reflection and inner monologue. |
And sideburns, don't forget the sideburns... :heh:

Now you know. :p |
It's going to be bad. Anything that goes ridiculously over-the-top for the sake of being "cool" never turns out well (see: Sucker Punch).

he has to fight his twin too!

Oh, you just dissed Sucker Punch casually and thought no one would notice. :frustrated: :D |

Heh, Sucker Punch *was* a sucker punch, as much for the audience as the protagonist, a high budget riff of a short film from 1962 called "An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge" that I saw in high school literature class in the early 70s.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056300/ But that's off-topic.... I don't expect this to be *good* but I suspect it might become a cult favorite like Bubba-hotep or some such. |
1st Trailer is out.

Those were some quality axes they produced back then.
Nothing like the cheap ones you get from hardware stores nowadays, that break every time you try to chop off a tree with one hit. |
what is next...Tolstoy, Dancing with Werewolves?
|
Wagner and the Space Pirates.

4 Realizations That Will Ruin Science Fiction for You:
http://www.cracked.com/blog/4-realiz...e-fiction-you/ I guess this movie is yet more proof of #1 in the above article. |

Bad science fiction maybe. But none of these apply to good works. Well, maybe #2 minus the reluctant part in some cases for older works. How does this movie (and #1) have anything to do with scifi? That's a B-movie atribute and this is a B-movie hommage. |

So long as the movie fulfils the criteria, "Fun", it doesn't really matter what genre it belongs to. :heh:
Cheers. |

It is odd how completely stupid, ridiculous ideas can actually seem cool with a little movie magic. :heh:
Tim Burton film? Abe was always my fave president. :D I might go see it. He would be badass. XD it would really make my day if one of the vamps he kills had the last name of 'Cullen'. >=) |
Just watched this tonight.
My verdict? It's rip-roaring good fun. :D Definitely not one for the history purists but, good gracious, what an inventive way to reimagine American Civil War history, making it a battle not just to "free" a nation but also to ensure that the living would forever prevail over the dead. My only complaint? That the slo-mo action scenes were poorly filmed, despite being lavishly choreographed. The movie makes me want to really break out a vampire-slaying deck in the current block of playing cards in Magic the Gathering. :p |
It's somewhat sad how the ad for the book is more exciting than the movie.
|
It's even more sad that i liked the Asylum's mockbuster "Abraham Lincoln vs zombies" more than this movie.
