98% of the people who watch Gintama already know about the second season :p, though i guess it can't help to have a thread for it.

Anybody knows how long this season will be?
The manga is not THAT far yet.

The manga will have 1.5 year head start, so I'm hoping for at least 52 episodes. :p

I've missed Gintama soooo much...It's the only anime that whenever I watch an episode I'm completely transported to my early days of watching anime...I get that same excitement like back in year 1 of my anime journey...It's just a mix of all the shonen goodness that anime can and has always been...Can't wait for season 2...

Looks like we're starting the 2nd season pretty seriously this time.

From what I've been reading of the manga from the last year, we will be getting some great stuff both comedy and story-wise right off the bat this time around ^_^

There was one particular story section recently that seems to possibly suggest that Sorachi-sensei is looking for a possible finish somewhere down the line, so perhaps this time the anime and manga will finish relatively closely to each other?

(not that I necessarily want it to end either, but it is a possibility).

I won't mention the chapters in question unless someone wants me to bring it up in spoilers however :P

It's going to be nice to have a show to look forward to watching other than my other mainstay again I have to say. These past couple seasons I haven't really found much of anything interesting enough to keep me watching.

oh yeah.....we can see yorozuya trio again....gintama the funniest ever anime!!!!

That trailer was EPIIIIIC! Makes me miss both the comedy and the action of Gintama, really looking forward to it now :(

Two days away until the return of Gintama. What are the chances that the topic for the first episode will be to do with JUMP shows getting a second season? :heh:

I think the first episode will probably be a loose adaptation of the new year chapter. Either way, I doubt they'll pick up right where they left off since it would mean the first episode wouldn't have any Gintoki (would have lots of anpan though :p ).

I'm also expecting a good 2 minutes of this of course:

Gintama is one of the best comedy series i've seen. i didnt follow the manga chapters covered in the anime but i did for the ones not covered when it ended. i have no idea how many episodes in the first 4 years were fillers but i like everyone of them. though i did skip out on one half episode bc the subject.

Gintama is back , just saw the ep the last 5 mins had my tears to funny.

The craziness that is Gintama is finally back! +1 reason to live. Agree with Kanon that the ED is better than OP. Actually the only OP that was better than the ED counterparts was DONTEN imo.

Omg. That was hilarious. Gintama at its best, when it's not trying to emulate its shonen brethern with stupid story arcs that belong in Bleach, but sticks to what it does best, which are gag episodes.

That scene with Shinpachi and Kyubei was just so lol. :p

Edit: Also, good to see it finally making the move to 16:9. :p

If you're past the Yagyuu arc (episode 80-ish), then you should be fine.

For now yeah. There's characters that appear past episode 80 that will be in the second season (in the OP), so i also recommend you watch more of the first season.
