Nakamura Hikaru draw an endcard for episode 8 for Natsu no Arashi, the chance of this being another Shaft show is pretty high. Recent Shaft's endcard cases:
  • Endō Minari - Hidamari Sketch x365 #10 → Maria Holic
  • Kobayashi Jin - Hidamari Sketch x365 #11 → Natsu no Arashi!
  • Tamaki Nozomu - Maria Holic #11 → Dance in the Vampire Bund

Moonphase seems to confirm it's a Shinbo show from Shaft. Lol.

Mizuno 2009-08-09 07:59

I knew it! SHAFT is really picking up all the strange stuff to animate. :heh:

But this series seems pretty meh, this is going to require a lot of work to pique people's interest.

edit: this one's not just strange, it's bizarre.

Midonin 2009-08-09 11:05

The strange and the quirky is right up Shaft's alley, and also up mine. It's like an alley situated between one of those neon-lit novelty stores and a bookstore. What was I talking about again?

Oh, right. I will definitely watch this because I've never met a Shaft show I haven't liked.

M.Marangio 2009-09-04 11:45

It's a Shinbo/Shaft show after all, as the blog of the mangaka confirmed:

The covers are really weird at least some of them were. So the element of comedy seems strong in this one . Also the art is pretty nice and concept seems interesting . I follow all almost all gag anime so sure wont miss this one .

Also kinda getting NieA under 7 vibes on this one , so really looking forward to this anime : O

Zetsubo Sensei's weirdness is wearing off, it's time for Shaft to find something weird. I'll check this out for the weirdness...?

The mangaka seems to be in disbelief that a famous Director is picking this up?

Oooh spring lineup, I actually didn't know this is getting animated. The manga was absolutely hilarious and wonderful, especially that "Priest".

Those manga covers are... Can't think of a proper word to describe them, but I really like them.

It looks like this series could be good for a lot of laughs. So, I'll look out for this.

Midonin 2009-12-04 22:17

The last time a series had covers that asynchronously bizarre was Sunred. Which is now one of my favorite series. (And also from Gangan, come to think of it.) So I place my faith in the weirdness.

Pay close attention to this website link.

http://www.starchild.co.jp/special/arakawa_ub/

There's nothing there yet, but it was listed on the flyer above, so it should have something soon. Which means Arakawa will be another collaboration of the Triple-S. Shaft, Shinbo and Starchild.

Westlo 2009-12-07 02:10

Read the first chapter, all it did was set up the premise so can't really say much, will check out an episode or two when this airs eventually.

Official site launched with ughh… announcement PV?

Midonin 2009-12-09 10:38

A live action announcement PV with a man in a kappa suit. Now that's the Shaft I know.

SHAFT never fails to amuse me with their creativity creating something different from usual....that was brilliant:p
Any news of the seiyuu cast yet?

Still no news.

After watching a couple of shaftbund, I'm wondering how much more quirky can they make this (the original material is already pretty beyond common sense).

sirn 2010-02-04 12:45

Casts

Ichinomiya Kou (Riku): Kamiya Hiroshi
Nino: Sakamoto Maaya
Hoshi: Sugita Tomokazu
Sonchou (Kappa): Fujiwara Keiji

Midonin 2010-02-04 12:47

That makes three Shaft leads voiced by Kamiya. Impressive.
