Unlicensed outside Japan

It's going to be released with volume 42 of the AMG manga, so it's obviously licensed in Japan. I'm sure we can discuss that item, although not what some people might do with it.

I haven't spotted mention of what caption or audio options will be on the Japanese DVD. I also haven't seen mention of DVD regions -- have older Japan AMG DVDs been region-free?

This is apparently the Japanese home page for the new anime: http://kc.kodansha.co.jp/megamisama/
There seems to be a link for preorders, but I haven't tried it so don't know if it is also set up for international orders. First I have to have over $50 available.:)

Aa Megami-sama OAD(Ah! My Goddess)

Since nobody has posted this before and I am not sure if this is the right forum to post about it.

ANN has the story that Kodansha is streaming a promo video for the OAD

Also here's an interesting bit from that.

Quote:

The manga/DVD bundle will ship in Japan on February 23, 2011. Hiroaki Gohda is directing the project, and the theme song will be sung by fripSide.
Here is the official Japanese link for the OAD

I'm always up for new Ah! My Goddess. :) Any word yet on what it's going to be about?

NoemiChan 2010-12-18 04:32

Is Keiichi taller now than Belldandy in that video?? It would be nice!

Horse 2010-12-18 05:13

The animation looks even worse than the TV series... What is dis I don't even...

Master_Yoma 2010-12-18 22:34

AMG is all ways a good thing but what is the chances that this and fighting wing get licensed now

MrTerrorist 2010-12-21 06:03

What? No 3rd TV season?

Well at least they have fripside singing the theme song.

Nobody has seen this show, it doesn't come out until February 2011. If you want ratings, the TV show's entry at ANN has ratings for that, and those episodes are on Hulu.com under Animation > Anime.

Looks like ANN has some more good news for us in September where a 2nd OAD will be released with Volume 43.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...inal-anime-dvd

I am really hoping that this week's OAD gets licensed along with the Fighting Wings TV Special so we Americans can see more Belldandy and Keiichi.

FlyingFringe 2011-02-22 22:46

It's Wednesday in Tokyo, and the OAD is out.

The ANN page that I linked to above was updated with a Kodansha link that shows the 2nd OAD.

!!!!! Well, this is exciting news. This was the series that got me into manga in the first place. I own everything except the first several Dark Horse mangas. I started collecting at The Fourth Goddess. Every time I see more A!MG, I get excited, and since this apparently is an original story (?) its even better!

Anh_Minh 2011-02-27 13:16

Five minutes into the first episode, and already I hate the premise. That people as nice as Keichi, and thus deserving of calling the goddesses, are vanishingly rare, I could take. I mean, the guy is nice.

But that all it takes for everyone in the world to be happy is him asking Belldandy on a date? I mean, what happened to starvation, disease, and war?

Sackett 2011-02-27 17:07

Spoiler for Early thoughts on apparent plot of this OVA:

Also, Belldandy has been Flanderized.

It's more like Belldandy is playing at being Belldandy rather then just being herself.

germanturkey 2011-02-27 17:41

its everything i wanted it to be. its been 23 years in the making, but its finally said. too bad its not going to happen in the manga any time soon. the OP was great too. animation is what i'd expect for a A!MG animation, not on par with the movie, but better than the series.

the bit about the prince and the goddess was perfectly fitting with the series. the music during the last segment on the ferris wheel was perfect. i'm playing back that segment beginning with the prince over and over..

Kleo Scanti 2011-02-27 18:11

One word. Boring. :(
