I know but looking at the trailers it seems they want to keep the bullets and such for the UNSC.

So I'll be a tad mad if the UNSC doesn't have highly advanced tech that puts them ahead of the covenant which it should.

And I'm not sure how there's a giant fleet of covenant as most of the ships have been destroyed or put out of commission and the elites don't even know how to build one.

It depends on how much time passed from glasslands to halo 4 but it can't be that long.

Well according to Glasslands

The prophets are all but gone.

The Brutes have broken down into civil wars so there are some on the Elite's side while others on their own.

The Elites are trying to re-learn everything but they are also leaning towards a civl war as well. The ones led by the Arbiter want to focus on rebuilding and maintaining a truce with the UNSC while others want to attack the UNSC while they are weak. Reasoning is because they believe the humans would never forgive them for the atrocities they committed against them.

The UNSC is also back to dealing with insurgents who are taking advantage of the aftermath as well.

To add to that, the UNSC's ONI division wants to create civil unrest among the Elites to keep them occupied from thoughts of attacking Earth. Between that and some Elite factions wanting to attack Earth... well, if ONI gets discovered, very likely the Elites will return to war with the UNSC.

i'm still wondering about the grunts and jackals. are they been fored to fight with the elites or something else?

Rising Dragon 2012-04-13 16:03

They're mostly pirates; its part of their culture. Very likely they went back to doing that after the Prophets were killed and the Covenant broken.

SoldierOfDarkness 2012-04-13 16:32

Well I would say by Halo 4's time ONI was probably found out because of the elite they tried to study broke free.

The only question is where they got such a large fleet since they are literally scrapping by.

The Jackals are just pirates and mercenaries and some are already trading with human insurgents and the Grunts....they were no mention of them at all.

DaRk HuNt3r F4n 2012-04-14 15:43

Heh, well if there are brutes with them (and i said IF) then there is more goin on.

SoldierOfDarkness 2012-04-14 16:08

Like I said the novel shows some Brutes have joined the Elites and other Elite Factions and they are having as much trouble maintaining their own ships. Even a Frigate is worth a lot.

They have bogged down into tribal warfare as "faith" was the one thing that kept them united.

IMO I think it's silly that they brought the covenant back just to make things familiar with older fans.

I mean by Halo 2 we were already playing the Arbiter which carries over into Halo 3 so for Halo 4 to reset the status quo is almost kinda silly.

I'm hoping that not all of the elites are hostile.

DaRk HuNt3r F4n 2012-04-15 00:44

Well true. Wonder about the marines that comes to requirem about the covenant. Should i call en feral?

Considering that they're trying to come up with a completely new enemy faction that operates differently than the covenant, I'm unsure if we'll be seeing the Brutes. Especially since they never quite found a satisfactory way to handle Brutes compared to Elites.

Halo 2: Bullets sponges
Halo 3: Less mobile Elites that can't regen shields

From what it sounds like, it's a more objective and cooperative oriented replacement for firefight.

Like, instead of nothing but defending against endless waves of Covenant, you get to carry out a bunch of objective based coop mini missions that are part of a narrative.

I'm still HOPING there's still some options for custom AI battles though. Firefight had it's limitations but it was nice to be able to mess around with all the modifiers just to mess around.

Maybe bots?

Roger Rambo 2012-04-18 07:12

Recent conan show showed off a production image of the new Pelican model. It seems a bit slimmer than the old version.

Maybe this is to avoid the silliness of having a cargo bay big enough for a tank to fit in that only seats ten guys? :p

Pelicans have always been gigantic.

I think they mentioned that people ussually didn't realize this was because of how few people are ussually carried in them, and limited field of vision/depth perception on most television screens.

You realize a controllable Pelican and Phantom were included in Reach as an easter egg, right? The New Alexandria level where you're in the Falcon?

You mean without any weapons, animations to get in and out of it, or any way to do anything meaningful in a level with it aside from gushing over an Easter egg? :p

I think what allot of people wanted to do was fly the Pelican around, chewing up people with vulcans and rockets, and then drop a team of marines/coop players down on some guys.
