Holy shit, Kaiki is all sorts of sexy in this episode.

Also I can swear Nadeko is not wearing any panties underneath. BTW I just noticed that Nadeko smiles a lot more now after her true self showed itself. It goes to show that she never enjoyed the facade she had before even though it was convenient for her.

ultimate_noob 2013-11-30 10:29

Shit! They made Kaiki so cool, I wouldn't mind going gay for him.

Also Nadeko and Hitagi sakuga improvements. Shaft going serious this time.

Never seen such beautiful frames from the two since Bake BDs.

omimon 2013-11-30 11:16

Also inb4 Nadeko is a slut for offering ecchi service after receiving 10,000 yen.

Peace of mind trumps everything else.

They have just made Kaiki the best girl this season.

...And I thought that Nadeko will rap that "Nadeko dayo" like in the previous Nise commentaries.

Kaiki changed his hair style and looks like a young Boris Karloff before he played the Frankenstein monster. His dialog with Hitagi is very good (I love to see her face again), and his first steps into the deception using Nadeko's parents is a excellent one. The initial contact was funny. But if Nadeko says that "no one" visits her, who is lighting the many lamps on the path to the shrine? She did? And her "godness" helps her tolerate the winter cold in those light clothes (no underware)? Finally, who did the shrine rebuilding?

Giving her a string and teaching cat cradle patterns will be his way of gaining her confidence before his deception. This episode is a good start.

I noticed that, too. Anyone who has lived with young girls (sisters, cousins, daughters, etc.) recognizes that. Shinobu also isn't using any, but SHAFT animators cover that up very well with her double skirt when Shinobu moves, especially when she flips in the air.

I wonder how can she be happy, living alone in that temple with no friends or family, and no visual means of feeding or support.

We've seen girls who end up possessed/become oddities withstand damage and do things that would usually break their bones or worse, winter cold and lack of food likely isn't a problem for someone who became a god. But boredom? That kills even immortals.

Kaiki was an ace this ep working through her parents. And Nadeko was a perfect mix of unnerving and slightly cute.

I want a Detective Kaiki TV show. "Fake detective, real crimes!"
It will be a smash hit.

Seriously, the guy should be main characters of a show soon.

I always wish that Nishio would write a prequel to Monogatari when Oshino, Kaiki and Kangeru are still schoolmates.

Or just another novel focused on the adults of this series.

They're ways cooler than teenagers.

We should get a novel based on Kaiki called SWAGmonogatari.

Kaiki's unrequited love for Kanbaru's mom, and the continuation of it....with Hitagi as the narrator.

seems like a perfect story to put on zokuowarimonogatari :D:D

Nisio is def trolling us if this is the case...

Hm, I am not that familiar with internet slang, so may I ask what swag means?

Shikijin 2013-12-01 03:56

http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/swag

swag: appearance ,style ,or the way he or she presents them selves.

Generally referred to a self-confident style that is attractive to ladies.

I wouldn't say they are cooler than the teenage characters, but they have a charm about them. But honestly, most of the charm I suspect is that they are intentionally kept vague and mysterious, and we get exposed to them one at a time, so their coolness shines in comparison to the "green" teenagers. That is their charm, to be the quirky, incomprehensible, powerful people out of reach.

Putting them in a show with each other, especially during the days they were under Gaen, with how Nisio uses her, would ruin that, I think.

They are cooler, but I think that partly it is because they are removed from the spotlight. When you are the main character you need your dose of flaws and internal conflicts to make the story work, and then you are less cool.

Eventually you could still do a story like that, but it requires more creativity. You need a reason why people who are exceptional at what they do can't solve the matter immediately.

well it shouldnt be too hard *looks at current arc*
also if it was during their highschool days, its pretty doable. we just make them less knowledgeable/sharp, add in internal conflicts and debate and we have a pretty decent structure.
also we have kaiki's apparent "interests"
Spoiler:
which can be a good plot/starting point.

going by speculation, there's certain points that could be addressed:

Actually, I would prefer to read the story about that trio is because I guess there would not be much harem element.
