Help...? >.<"

Erm, well, I'm not sure if this would belong in this catagory, but whatever (someone could move the post... right? right?!)...

Anyways, I know absolutely NOTHING about downloading and stuff... And I downloaded BitTorrent, and I tried downloading Naruto eppies 1-10. After that was done, an IE window popped up and directed me to the donate page of the website I downloaded BitTorrent off of.

So... erm, help? (Am I even making any sense?)

Yes. The first time you use the mainline BitTorrent client it will ask you for money. It only does this once, so you'll never see the beg screen again.

Don't worry about it. Though it would be nice of you if you donated. ;)

Problem is, it does this multiple times...

Then try another one. I used the raw-BT for quite a while, but trust me; ABC is better after you get used to it. Download the .torrent, drag&drop, download. Job done.

By the way, don't tell me you are *still* using the crappiest browser there is, a.k.a IE? :heh:

NoSanninWa 2004-11-02 16:15

That's odd. It is only supposed to do this once. :twitch:

It sounds like you've got a problem. I'm not sure how you can fix it or what would cause it. Perhaps someone will get back to you with an answer, but in the meantime I can suggest a work-around solution. Uninstall your client and install BitTornado. It has no beg screen, ever. It also has many more features. Honestly, it is better than the mainline client in every way without having a radically different UI or being too complicated. I wish I could solve the problem you specify, but at least this isn't a downgrade.

The latest version does bring up the 'donate' page each time if I remember correctly (having just installed it myself recently). I don't think you have anything wrong, it's just the way it's now implemented.

To get rid of it, I think you just have to say that you did donate (i.e. tell a small fib). It then creates a 0 byte file called "donate" (no extension) in the directory you have BT installed. I suspect if you create this file yourself, it will also stop going to the donate page.

@ xris

Isn't that also called cracking or warezing it? You should ban yourself now. :nono:
