Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta (The Pilot's Love Song)

Listed as a Fall 2013 anime by MAL: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topici...40#msg22819185

Director: Suzuki Toshimasa (Heroic Age ; Rinne no Lagrange)
Series Composition: Shinichi Inotsume (the first Hayate no Gotoku anime; Zettai Karen Children; The Unlimited Hyoubu Kyousuke)

Synopsis from ANN:

Quote:

The 2009-2011 five-volume light novel series is set in the same world as Inumura's To Aru Hikūshi e no Tsuioku (Recollection of a Certain Airship Pilot/The Princess and the Pilot) novel and anime film, although it is set earlier with a different cast of characters. The story of love and aerial combat follows a former prince who lost everything to a revolution, a girl who became the symbol for the revolution, and another girl on a journey of her own. The orphaned prince, now renamed Karueru, embarks on a one-way voyage to discover the ends of the heavens. Aboard the levitating island of Isura, he meets a girl named Claire.

Interesting.

Haak 2013-06-17 12:53

Well I'm interested since the series does have a nice setting but I hope this one is much better than The Princess And The Pilot, which I thought was just bland and almost boring at times.

I got the Series Composition info from Moon Phase, and that probably came from the top entry on this page: http://gagaga-lululu.jp/gagaga/information/index.html

Google Translate had that as this:

Quote:

Information "love poem to certain Airship fighters"
Animated project progress "Love Song to a certain Airship fighters"!

TV animation broadcast schedule "Love Song to a certain Airship fighters" this fall!

Popular "Airship officer" series animated decided! !
Story of air combat and love to send a luxury staff. Do not miss the follow-up in the future!

STAFF
Director: Suzuki Toshimasa masterpiece: "Lagrange Rinne"
Series Composition: Shinichi Inotsume masterpiece: "THE UNLIMITED Hyobu Kyosuke"
"White meat's @ not work hard" Harada large group masterpiece: character design
Apparently that last one had the show credit that was supposed to be "Sasami-san@ Ganbaranai". :heh:

Well ... umm ... to each their own I suppose. Though I must confess that I read the novel first and was totally hooked, so maybe those who saw the anime as their "first impression reference" may not have been so swept off their feet.

Still though, color me initially interested for this as well.

I liked the move a lot, and I'm looking forward to this. But I'm singularly unimpressed by the staff list.

Finally a thread about this gets made. Considering that I've watched and enjoyed both the movie and the novel it was adapted from, I'm really psyched about this one. The person who directed Lagrange Rinne is directing this, huh? I don't know what to say about that, but as long as this doesn't fail in its execution, it'll definitely have my weekly attention.

Now I have something to look forward too, this fall. Can't wait to see where this goes.

I really liked the movie, so I'm glad to hear there will me more of the same, albeit with different characters and stories, coming soon.

Studio is TMS Entertainment.

Same as the movie. Nothing surprising.

Movie with that genderbend Kaworu was really mediocre (and her VA sucked). I hope this time will be better
Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread)

I rather liked it and thought her VA did a good job, actually. Go figure. ;)

PV for the light novel.

Sort of a "prince charming fighting to protect his damsel in distress" kinda thing. :heh: As adventure / fantasy goes, it doesn't get more generic than this.

Darthtabby 2013-12-29 18:20

The 2011 movie that was set in the same world as this spin off didn't have a particularly complex premise either and it was fantastic, so I'm hoping this show will prove to be better than its premise would suggest as well.

The style seems to be a bit different though. In particular the characters in the new series look younger. Plus the 2011 movie didn't go for J-pop. :p

AbZeroNow 2013-12-30 15:13

And we have liftoff, as Crunchyroll clears the runway:

http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-new...ove-song-anime

The Pilot's Love Song is a good English title.

Darthtabby 2013-12-30 16:03

With a bit of rephrasing, the section of that crunchyroll article labelled "story" would make a nice synopsis -for the 2011 film that's set in the same world as this TV series but features different characters. :p

tsunade666 2013-12-30 16:13

I'll be on a the look out for this. I watched the movie (not sure on the title) to a certain pilot? and its a great story but I don't like the ending :(

I hope this story won't disappoint me too.
