so a new 2 episode xxxholix OVA is coming up? anyone know any details about this?

My main yokai supernatural fix this season . Was really excited when I heard about this but was disappointed when I came to know this just 2 OVA/OAD. Too much of tease without the full show : ( ...... But as saying goes nothing is better than something glad to have my fix : )

2 episodes is just... strange...
but then, i still remember the movie very well and i can definately say that xxxHolic on a high budget is worth the trouble.

It may be strange, though it happens a lot. Also, we don't know yet how long each episode will last in length. Could be 24 minutes, could be 50 minutes.

How is the manga going ? An OVA is nice but a third season is always superior.

i heard theres barely any mangaplot left to be turned into anime.
i dont get it, considering how long the manga has been running, but whatever.

There's enough for OVA's, and that's what this is going to be.

As expected, Shikao Suga is preforming the opening like he did for the preivous two seasons. Also, looks like this won't be a direct countinouation from the anime, but a staright adabtation from the manga (Chapters 158 to 160 it apperes, though I don't know what they can do them, there isn't much of a story in them any way).

Heh, can tell this is an OVA production --- the animation is looking rather solid compared to the TV series. & yeah not much to work with from those manga chapters, though i'm sure they'll work the same magic they did with the two seasons.

Oooh,they're actually going to introduce him in the anime after skipping most of that story? Can't wait to see how it works out, unless they want to use this as a bridge to a third season, which would still be ok.

No because it hasn't been subbed yet. Only subbed anime gets moved to the fansubbed section.

What an episode!!! Unreal. Or should I say S-u-R-R-E-A-L! Very very satisfied with this presentation in the episode even though story wise it was one of the less eventful ones compared to other xxxHolic episodes. One of the things what makes OAV so attractive to me is that the animators get to have more time to work on an episode than the average episode slated to air on TV. Excellent background imagery, simplistic movements with vibrant coloring and style, awesome.. absolutely awesome music that goes smoothly along with this easy going content which was mostly devoted to Watanuki's coming to terms with the notion that his life is changing for the better after all considering he has able to make a friend like Doumeki. Watanuki still provided some resistance, but in the end had no other choice but to give in to his better self. :) The opening song is probably one of the better ones I've heard from J-Pop. Suga Shikao is a good band.

Just when I was wondering how Shunmuki comes to stand out so much among the xxxHolic franchise, I see Production I. G's name thrown in there... and it all makes sense. :) Some screens:

The episode gets a very-good rating from me.

Production IG have animated every single installment of the xxxHolic franchise - the Midsummer Night's Dream film, both TV series, and now the OVA. Their involvement says nothing about the quality - it's more that it's an OVA and probably has more money behind it than the TV show.

Have you see the film? It's pretty good, nice and surreal.
