Beat the Kishin by confusing the hell out of him ^_^;;
Action was good, everyone in character, bringing back basic concepts and ideas from the beginning of the show. When it comes out on dvd I mostly will end up picking it up.

Maka is a WEAPON?! What the FECK?

Not what i expected at all. I was expecting epic demon hunter power up.. what we got was Maka all of a sudden spouting scythes from left and right and defeating the kishin with a punch of all things (which im still confused as to uh HOW?). So all in all it was a pretty hardcore episode.

I'm just confused. If Maka is a weapon, does that mean weapons can resonate with other weapons? @_O; if not, big plot hole there bones. Then again i was totally lost through a lot of the dialogue throughout the ep so i coulda misinterpreted something.

Still disappointing that Maka once again outshines Soul, shinigami-sama appearing to be hunky dory fine without explanation, and most other characters doing pretty much nothing with Maka taking all the glory. Regardless, still pretty hardcore.

As for the series, I definitely enjoyed it, despite how much it fell apart in the last half, I still have a severe attachment to the characters so im satisfied with pretty much everything that happened, despite the lack of backstory and development.

But um.. MAKA =/= WEAPON?. Xpln plz.

Maka's Kishingari was interesting, though proved ineffective against. Not so "hunting", is it Maka? What was interesting though was compared to the preview, it had a vibrant of colors rather than the red. Her words of courage confusing the hell out of Ashura and ultimately what defeated him, a "normal" punch, was great. The imagery, animation, and everything was perfect. Except... I Wanna Be. Ugh.

If I remember the dialogue correctly, she says that it was just a "normal" punch. Nothing special. It was something no one else tried against him from what I understood. My theory is something so simple was enough to ultimately harm him (as in a physical attack), rather than any special ability anyone was able to use.

Yeah, that's pretty much what it was. It was just a normal punch, something that anyone had and could use. To which he replied, "Oh, just like fear." right before he esploded. :D

(Now, I don't quite remember if he said "kyoufu/fear" or "kyouki", but its pretty similar anyways).

The first half of episode amazed me. Really , AMAZED me. Especially when Maka screams. It's priceless. It had made my day , plus Soul proctecting Maka once more. Although because I don't really understand japanese , I'm not sure why the heck Maka can wields a whole buch of SCYTHES from her body when she's unconcious like that.

On the other hand , the last half of the episode confused me...and made me sad. The mind-raping is cool , but after Kishin is defeated , no epilogue , Maka standing there , like she's alright after being beaten by Kishin -_-" nothing at all , what the heck... That's a bit...disappointing. I still wished that scene of Soul holding Maka in the opening scene is there. But...There isn't.

And now I'm waiting for a miracle ; either an ova or a movie , or a second season. Who knows?

kotobasu outlined the only real bone I had to pick with Bones here. Maka pulling blades out her ass, or is it everywhere except her ass made no friggin sense. Apparently she had the blood of a weapon AND a tech manifest at the LAST FRIGGIN MINUTE.I watched the thing raw with about a 75% comprehension rate, so I am pretty sure Kishin mentioned that when they were brawlin'

However the bravery part does make sense, Kishin's sealed by Shinigami and has been thinking for many many many years. He certainly can get confused by something he never thought of in all those years and never believed in. It's like Jesus coming down from the sky and telling an atheist(Or to be on the extreme side, someone who because of an incident completely lost trust in their religion and is filled with hate) we gods do exist xD

What Maka attacked Ashura first with was an improved Demon-Hunter, not a Kishin-Hunter. Ashura even commented on it, and said that because of that, it was ineffective on him.
The reason Maka started acting like a weapon is because she IS half-weapon. Her mother was a technician, while her father is a weapon. When she blacked out, she went into a berserk mode, without fear, and was able to fight Ashura. But he then pulled her out of that mode through pain.
The thing Ashura could NOT understand, was courage. It was something he didn't have, so he could not understand why it drove Maka to keep on fighting. That last punch was only a normal punch, something that was never tried on Ashura before. I wish it had a better epilogue, but all in all, great ending.

There were was a discussion about the influence of Spirit's weapon genes on Maka. We knew the "weapon" thing was genetical. And we knew that while a meister, Maka's dad was a weapon. Even Asura commented about the "blood of a weapon" in Maka. Who knows how the manga will tackle this, but we will see.

In chapter 55, a conversation between Soul and one of his family members indicates that he's the only one in his family with the "blood of a weapon." I guess it's probably a highly recessive trait or something... so it would probably be unlikely for Maka to have it in the manga.

Wow....that was a really stupid way to end the series. Will apologize to those who liked the episode but that's all I could think as it continued to the conclusion.

Perhaps there was no other way they could think of to let Maka save the day. Because she is the main character she obviously must win. Do wish they would have just let Shinigami beat Asura. At least it would have made sense since he did so much against him even without a weapon after the Kishin's ressurection.

Instead he gets confused and then punched. Maybe they should just dump all the weapons since punches are the most powerful things in the universe. Feel for Soul since he was pretty much useless in all of this. His ability as a weapon completely surpassed by a berserk Maka. Good thing he wasn't awake for that or he'd probably be rather depressed.

I'd like to say the ending could have been worse. But it probably couldn't have been that much worse.

Ok...it was nice to finally see if it was true if Maka was half weapon, but something somehow isn't right, they left a few holes that will make questions, i've been reading the manga thats why im saying it, first is the lines of Kid and the crack of Shinigami-samas mask, the left things and the ending isn't bad but I think it could have been a little better

the Sanzu Lines is a remaining question only slightly more explained in the manga right now (namely, that they're explicitly connected to Shinigami). I never really had the question of Maka being a Weapon in mind, as I've assumed for a bit that the traits were genetic and Maka simply didn't have it; seems as though Bones has worked it into their context, though.

Generally, it sounds as though we ended with nothing totally unexpected.

Honestly speaking...that was a pretty poor ending which is a shame since the previous episodes were so good they they had to stumble over the last hurdle.

It was fine until half-way when Maka and Asura started to have a deep conversation on crap that ended up causing his defeat with a single punch...just what the hell is with that?? I know that final boss fights nowadays have trouble trying to pull off an original plot/end, but that was just terrible. If it wasn't bad enough to break the atmosphere and tension by having that silly chat, they had to go end things like that...

Sheesh...I am disappointed at Asura...really disappointed. And they how convenient was it for everyone to get up and walk around fine as ever right after Maka did all the "hard" work herself.
This was an awful conclusion imo and it is such a shame...

Dammit, what a LET DOWN. The manga doesn't do it as much, but Bones' adaption consistently pissed me off at how much they revered and made Maka the obvious Shounen main character. I was hoping Bones wouldn't fall face first into the archetype THIS badly, but Soul Eater ended up with the main gal defeating an opponent who she really had no chance against, and everyone else doing absolute nil. Also, if Maka's now a weapon, Soul is unnecessary, yeah? Sheesh, you'd think it's named after the dude Soul for a reason, but Bones just had to give Maka all the spotlights. Just... ugh. If it wasn't for the pretty animation I'd be throwing stones and ranting like a lunatic. Bones has this stupid fixation with Maka that brings them down constantly; it's not realistic to have your little joshi kosei defeat someone even Shinigami had no hopes against. Like, a punch may be innovative, but so is a Shinigami chop, yeah?

Bones, I hate you. Except for your beautiful animation. Actually, I just hate the drunks with the storyboards.
