And Dai Sato as writer. If he can't save the series, no one can and the franchise was really butchered by Sho Aikawa.

Let's hope it turns out better than AO. And the last E7 movie. Hopefully there aren't too many delays, though I still expect this trilogy to finish before the Eva Rebuild films do.

I'm nostalgic for E7, and if these films turn out ok, at least it'll be a nicer way to remember the franchise than the other post-E7 stuff. Even if they're just compilation films, that would be better than the original E7 film.

bastek66 2017-03-17 02:52

Wow, I though franchise is dead after AO.

BTW there was 5 episodes ONA shorts as additional ending for E7AO

Blaat 2017-03-17 03:35

Anime, along with media in other parts of the world, truly is in nostalgic frenzy. Not that I mind

Hopefully it will be better than Ao, which won't be hard to pull off.

Dextro 2017-03-17 04:03

This explains why they went to the trouble of making those Ao ONA then. Can't say I'm very hyped for this after what Ao did to the franchise but more Bones Mecha Anime is always a good thing so I'm not complaining much. Bring it on!

EasyGo-er 2017-03-17 05:29

The synopsis taken from MAL:

The movies will tell the story of the phenomenon known as "The First Summer of Love" that took place ten years before the first Eureka Seven anime, but was never depicted in full. The movies will then follow the main storyline of the first TV anime and contain new dialogues and scenes, revised footage, as well as a new ending not present in the original series.

So it retells the events that happened before and during the first TV series, with new scenes and ending. It doesn't have anything to do with AO like you guys thought.

Kurohane 2017-03-17 13:58

Okay.... but how many fans really want this? I can't imagine after AO that fans are still quite... enthusiastic.

Twi 2017-03-17 16:00

You know, this would explain why they waited so long to release those extra AO videos. They were trying to at least warm the crowd up to a return to the franchise... of course, in a worse case scenario that revised ending could be trying to tie it into Ao's backstory.

In which case, I'll take the original.

^ I don't want AO to even be canon anymore. Thankful for Satou returning to hopefully salvage the name of E7.

if these erase Ao from canon i'm all for. honestly if there was anything good you could say about Ao is that it will go down in history as an example on how not to do a sequel

Veriselle 2017-03-18 21:17

Now this is a surprise. AO is a dissappointment so I'm looking forward to this. Please dont be a trainwreck like AO (that 'different ending' statement is worrysome though...)

Kazu-kun 2017-03-19 19:34

I hope they don't replace the VAs. Wanna hear Kaori Nazuka as Eureka again.

There is a good chance that Fujiwara Keiji (Holland) will be replaced as he's currently on leave due to a medical treatment.

i too hope they dont replace Talho's seiyuu. I need a dose of Michiko Neya again.

Best possible ending: Ao is made non canon. Worst possible ending:Ao is made canon.:upset:
Honestly, I see Ao as the same as the original film; Ao's renton and eureka are from a very similar, yet different universe than the renton and eureka from the main series, and therefore Ao is non canon from the main series. Truthfully, Ao by itself wasn't that bad. As a sequel to E7 however, good lord did I hate Ao so much.:frustrated:

Mad Pierrot 2017-05-19 13:21

I only watched the original series and that alternative universe movie and I was warned about not watching AO. I heard that even Eureka's writer left after the second episode of AO. What happened?

Twi 2017-05-19 19:50

A.O basically made the ending of the original completely pointless and made the bad guy right. That's really all you need to know, a lot of wasted potential.

coded321 2017-05-19 20:09

In essence, AO ruined the original.

Guardian Enzo 2017-05-20 19:18

In your opinion.

A.O. committed the gravest of all sins an anime sequel can commit - it dared to be different from the original in tone and substance. To some (I would argue those that went into it with an open mind) it was as good or better than the original. But in the end it all comes down to your personal opinion. Which, of course, you can't have unless you watch something and decide for yourself.

The thing about the writer leaving is complete fantasy, BTW. Aikawa Shou was in charge of scripts for the entire series.
