Recommended Codec pack?
 

I recently got a new PC and installed CCCP 2010-10-10 to be able to watch episodes. Everything seems to play fine except I notice a very slight audio lag.

The specs of my PC are
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
- Intel Core i7
- 8 gigs of RAM
- 1gig video card

I looked on my old PC to see which codecs were installed and since I don't know much about codecs, it seems I installed a lot. On my old PC, I had CCCP 10-10-10, ffdshow 2009-7-5 and XP Codec pack. But with these installed, there was no audio lag.

Which codec pack should I use for my new PC?

I use Shark007's Windows 7 Codecs, in part because it was the only codec pack that had an 64-bit expansion the last time I looked.

64-bit video codecs do not give you any meaningful performance gain when it comes to playback, and Shark007's shit was a huge mess last time I looked at it. With those machine specs you should not have any playback problems with anything whatsoever anyway. If you're getting desync issues on a clean system install with those specs, it's probably caused by something other than your codec setup. My gut feeling is to check that you've got your audio and video drivers in order.

I personally use Satsuki decoder pack. I prefer it to CCCP.

I just got a new PC with same specs and I play everything I throw at it without desync issues, I would say listen to fluff and check your drivers. My vote always goes to CCCP, easy set up and if you have issues they have a useful forum where you can get help.

Just another vote for cccp... never had a problem on any machine I put it on. The few problems encountered were always either video drivers or basic processing power insufficiency of the gpu/cpu. (I've used it on some *really old* machines). And yes, the classic player runs circles around the annoying current MS media player.

I will vote for CCCP as well if you looking for stability. Your PC has quite a bit of power, and I will not worry about performance issues at all.

Also CCCP comes with a Media Player Classic :) - a good, simple player.

I can recommend K-Lite Mega codec (there are also a basic, standard and full version of K-Lite) which gets fast updates and the menus for settings are pretty intuitive. Never had problems with K-lite.
