The Legend of Maian

I couldn't find a thread for this manhwa so here's an introduction to this series. The author is IM-Dal Young, who's also worked on Kurokami, Aflame Inferno, Freezing, and other works you might recognize.

Genres: Action Adventure Ecchi Fantasy Romance Shounen

"A powerful sorceress, Felicia Rand Philistin, once tried to conquer the nation of Shurian. In her wake of terror and destruction, a single man stood up and rebelled against her oppression and domination. The people called him Maian the Brave (Yongja Maian) and it was he that sealed the evil sorceress.

A thousand years later, Fenix Maian in a strange twist of fate releases the sealed sorceress that his ancestors have tried so hard to keep imprisoned. Now he has to keep the sorceress from taking over the world once again... "

That description is taken from BU, although its basically Felicia and Felix going on a journey together.

Anyways, the art is great as is the tsundere-ness from Felicia and Felix. It's a very nice light-hearteded read for those that appreciate fantasy shounen with romance

I was wondering when someone would get this going. XD

The art is good and fanservicey - always a plus. There's only 3-5 Korean artists that I've actively seen but they all draw extremely well so your eyes won't suffer from lack of 'candy'.

If one has seen/read the manga named 'Bastard!', it is pretty similar to it except Felicia's not all that interested in aquiring a male harem for herself even though she could definitely have her pick of any man.

lol this was actually on my to do list, was meaning to make a thread for this for bloody ages but just never got round to it.
Should have as well, as this is my favorite work of Im Dal Young, more so than UxU or Aflame.

Well thats more down to the fact I like the setting. Swords, magic and beasts is always gonna be a fav of mine plus it helps that the art as expected, is great!:D

Felicia is hawt and cool and all but I think I'm more of a Lyna fan, nothing like a flaming redhead to set ya alight:p

Are volumes 4 to 6 that bad, or do you mean that you haven't already read them yourself?

Johnny 2010-08-28 10:28

It just started getting really good at the end of volume 6 with the tournament thing so I'd say they meant haven't read them...

Spoiler for vol 6+:

Thankfully(sort of) it was some crazy fighting style.

But you know who we need more of, Ma Jin the silent guy, whatever small parts he's had have been pretty entertaining:D

Tempest35 2010-08-28 11:42

The hot commando nun was/is incredibly hot...and incredibly sweet too...and incredibly sexy when doing her 'death glare'... Hopefully she knows healing spells as well. Her wonderful assests would be most welcome to the Felix team. :naughty:

Looks interesting. I might check up on it. Though, I have some "lite" dislike of Korean comics. Thanks for the heads up.

SonOfHeaven 2010-08-28 13:35

Nice to thread for this. Its one of my favorite works by Im Dal Young. This tournament reminds me of Yu Yu Hakusho(and others) since it actually is long. I don't really mind it personally.

Westlo 2010-08-28 20:43

Read all 6 volumes last week, was going to make a thread but I was too lazy lol. Really enjoyed this, nice cast of characters and its nice to see some development between Felicia and Felix as well as Felix started to level up.

Btw what do you think the chances of Felicia being connected in some manner to that god like Felix's bother points out in the second or third chapter? Also interesting to see all the flashbacks we see of Felicia seen through other people she seems really dignified as opposed to her delightful narcissistic self we see in the manga.

Tempest35 2010-08-28 21:32

I honestly think that
Spoiler for Maian's reasoning:

Nice! Gonna read them later.

SonOfHeaven 2010-09-22 07:25

Just finished volumes 7 and 8. Kind of funny Felicia needed a lecture about love. I'm looking forward to volume 9 greatly. The upcoming fight should be good. I really like this story.

Tempest35 2010-09-22 09:23

There's only a few things that would mentally scar someone and having that as a back story would do it. Well, Felix has done it - now we'll see what the power is that beat back all the Regis Knights and Felicia herself 1,000 years ago.
