Release this week, can't wait

Can't stop listening to this song, because it's meaning is not only depth but the real deal.

Basically, as I interpret it, the song conveys Mikasas' feelings for Eren, as she despairs everyday at the thought of losing him to the cruel world that both struggle and strive to live in it.

Utsukushiki Zankoku na Sekai, "The Beautiful Cruel World".

For real the world is cruel, yet if anyone pays attention and goes in a search, then he or she will discover that there are beautiful things to hold onto.

Or maybe the song is intended for both Mikasa and Eren, the latter conveying his firm will to show her the beauty of the outside world, in spite of the chaos that both are living through.

Currently finding the soundtrack to be pretty cinematic. I mean, that's generally been the way that Hiroyuki Sawano (composer of anime like Guilty Crown and Gundam Unicorn) has rolled, but here, he seems to be totally embracing the Hollywood type of sound you hear from guys like Hans Zimmer. Definitely fitting given how epic the anime seems to be shooting for at the moment and the bombast doesn't bother me like it normally does in his other works.

Any news on when the full opening and ending song are going to be released?

Entravity 2013-05-07 20:23

Hiroyuki doing a great job with the soundtrack as usual. That near-end soundtrack for episode one is fantastic.

And to add to Westlo's comment, the opening gets a release on July 10.

You mean that Hiroyuki Sawano?

I really love the musical work that person does.

Guilty Crown, Zombie Loan, and among others.

I do agree the music for Shingeki no Kyojin is fitting. The score revolves around the idea of a world where humanity is reminded about survival of the fittest at every corner of their minds.
Yet, the protagonist fights off that crapsack mentality with the hope of all of them surviving to the end to see the beauty of the outside world.

I see it much like Hope vs Fatalism.

I love how this piece of ED is so emotional and ties it so much with the characters. Really truly a beautiful song T_T something I haven't felt in a long while.

Is there any specific date when the OST drops? I heard is sometime in June.

Marly 2013-05-11 17:13

I remember when I liked the OP.

Then it became the second coming of Guile's Theme and I don't want to have anything to do with it ever again.

Yup! Attack on Titan's OST slated to come out June 28. With luck, I'll get a job by then and have enough money to throw down a preorder.

I love the ost that plays when mikasa is wondering why she's fighting in episode 7, I think it's the same ost as when the teacher lectures about titans in episode 5

Stumbled upon a hilarious Guren no Yumiya cover by Yuuki Kaji (Eren), Hiro Shimono (Connie Springer) and Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa). Link.
