woah. thanks for the basara one! never heard that version before.

the closes i've hear was the animetal one.

which i just like the raw tension it gives.

not as smooth as basara one, but does have passion in it.

I remember listening to another heavy metal version of the main Macross theme. It sure is a great old school theme eh?

yeah, all the old ones were so full of GAR.

while i have no complaints for songs by modern bands like L'arc'ciel, i still find GAR-songs like those from JAM project (does all the SUPER ROBOT WAR themes) the best.

Hearing the Macross theme just pure nostalgic.

:)

thinknig about it, i wish they put a GAR song for Macross. nothing against Mayaa Sakamoto, love her songs but i felt perhaps a male GAR song would make my manly heart go full GAR power.

:p

btw, anyone listened to basara singing the SDF macross theme song before?

Because it can be used as 'attack' against a bunch of your own units to turn them into unstoppable killing machines as it would sky rocket their morale.

DonQuigleone 2008-04-10 16:36

On another note entirely, Fire Bomber are mentioned in the end credits, thoughts?

dodgethis_sg 2008-04-10 19:05

Because Totsugeki Love Heart was being played on the radio in Ozma's car.

I jumped off my chair when I heard that. haha
Is Basara contemporary to the Macross F timeline?

Sheryl Nome, Sharon Apple and Fire Bomber all competing in the Galaxy music charts? :D

I think it's actually a nice touch, and in a way it touches Ozma being a bit older than the rest of the kids (30s or late 20s?). For him, Fire Bomber was probably the big thing when he was younger so he naturally still listens to them probably. Sharon Apple may be a bit too old though, and besides, they may want to surpress a bit of her popularity given the nature of her umm demise, and what that crazy AI tried to do heh.

Nyan Nyan?

ChronoReverse 2008-04-14 01:49

The new ED is beautiful. Can't wait for the full version. The OP is also starting to grow on me.

hai_san 2008-04-14 02:57

for me macross songs alway implied LOVE songs, so "Dont be late" as a pop song is really good but the NEW ED at ep 2 was wtf omg i like it so much.

edit:i am curious who will be the one who will sing the "ultimate love song" in this macross serie? Lanka or Sheryl :p

Onizuka-GTO 2008-04-14 12:45

yeah, i love the ending song!

i want the single already.

dammn you Macross! >_<

you gave me the singing bug again!

*can't get the tune out of his head*

dragonlord 2008-04-16 00:49

Just out of curiosity..

talking over with a friend of mine about the duet singing near the end ed of the 2nd ep...and we were wondering if the VA's did their own singing there, or not

I'm assuming Lanca/Megumi Nakajima, is doing her own singing...

does anyone know whos doing Sheryl's singing? is it Aya Endo, or someone totally different? (and also while i;m at it, her other songs)

Westlo 2008-04-16 00:53

Aya Endo is just the talking voice for Sheryl, the singer behind Sheryl is May'n.

@ Onizuka-GTO

Yeah I love the ed song as well, best song in the series so far. Can't wait to get the single since Don't Be Late is on it as well!

Light Yagami 2008-04-16 18:16

I've noticed that I was searching info about the this ED theme (for the video descripition)

@Westlo: thanks for sharing the Gabriela webpage link.

Anyway, I love this song.

The soudntrack is one of the things that I most appreciate from Macross Frontier. I like all their songs.

Goodbye (^^)V

I was reading the AnimeOnDVD Music forum and found out they are reissuing the Macross TV soundtracks which is just great news. Hopefully they reissue the soundtracks for DYRL and the rest as well.

Just get 'Macross The Complete' album. You can listen to all music from DYRL, Macross TV OST Vol.1 & Vol.2 (plus chara songs by Misa, Milia, Kim, Shammy & Vanessa).

Mossygirl 2008-04-20 01:08

I really enjoyed Ranka's song from the end of ep. 3 -- I prefer this version to the one in the ending theme of the first ep. It reminds me a bit of "Aoi Hitomi," another Yoko Kanno song (from Escaflowne). A Gabriela Robin Site suggests it's a mix of Japanese and non-Japanese, which sounds about right to me (especially since this is Yoko Kanno). Has anyone come by romanized lyrics or a translation for the Japanese parts?

vision33r 2008-04-21 01:57

Don't be Late - Parts of it sounds like Fire Bomber's Planet Dance.

Wonder which past Macross char influences Sheryl's music, if so.

personally, i think the lyrics resemble more to "Galaxy" by Alice Holiday, who was incidentally another (correct me if i'm mistaken) self-labelled "Galaxy Fairy" and who was a personal idol of Mylene Jenius.
