Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket

Hii...I just finished Gundam 0080 but unfortunately there were no subtitles and my Jap isn't very good, so I hope someone can answer me these questions.

1) What is the relationship between the red hair girl and the little boy? Is she her sister?

2) Did the beam saber of the Gundam thrust into the Zaku's cockpit, so Barnie died?

3) Did the red hair girl in the end know that the Barnie is the one who was piloting the Zaku?

1. If I remember correctly, Chris (red head) was Al (boy's) tutor (and friend) before she had to go to Earth on assignment by the Federation.

2. Yes..unfortunately...Bernie died...one of the saddest Gundam deaths to me.

3. Nope...she had no clue and he didn't know she was in the Gundam either.

0080 (and The 08th MS Team) is also a good way to see that not EVERY Federation/Zeon member was a total, heartless person who followed orders like mindless sheep. It showed that there were good people on both sides who held concern for people on the other side as well and try NOT to just mindlessly massacre everyone around.

Basically like how Bernie fighting the Alex in the end wasn't JUST because it was the Cyclops Team's orders, but also because he feared for the lives of the colony citizens and Al and Chris too.

From what I remember, Bernie's death was in vain too wasn't it? Didn't the Zeon ship planning to destroy the colony destroyed/captured by a federation ship? If my memory's correct then that added even more sadness to Bernie's death.

Yeah, Federation ships had already destroyed the Zeon ship(s) enroute to the colony. I think the little kid´s father was onboard one of the ships that did it or saw the battle or something like that?

0080 was alright, unfortunately for me I didn´t like the little kid and he was basically the main character...:heh:

It was sad for Al too since he found out that the ship with the nuke (I think it was a nuke) was stopped by the Federation so it made it even harder on him.

I wonder how long it took to put together Kampfer with only 5(?) people assembling it. Was it partially assembled when the zeon troops arrived?

This show needs to be brought to light again. I just finished it and already I like it over 08th.

This is a show I will consider when I want to show someone an anti-war show. Gundam/Anime fan or not.

Burger Ending :heh:
Cool story. And like 08th, great mechanics :D

I actually didn't like the ending to this anime.

Spoiler for Ending:

Yeah, in a way it's a great introduction series --- though i guess there's a 50/50 chance of it accomplishing just that.

0080 has a great score. Haven't listened to it in a while.

Bernie's theme is awesome. Fits him and what happened to him so well it's not even funny T_T.

The fight with the Kamper was the only good thing of this little series. IMO.

germanturkey 2009-02-14 22:35

3 year old thread ftw. what a great great great series. and in the end, it was all for nothing..

GN0010 Nosferatu 2009-02-14 23:16

Ya know, the sad thing is...I remember EXACTLY what I was up to on the 29th of December in 2005.

What can I say? I'm an action man, and this show didn't really deliver it. Sure the story is about other things, but still. Mech designs were great, but, this is my second least favorite Gundam series.
