First few chapter kind of slow in development but it really take off after that :D

Can I just say that I absolutely adore Chaser? More then the main characters or any other characters? Chaser is the best of them all.

While I have to admit that the official pairing is most definitely Yumeji/Merry (since between the anime and the manga I really don't think Yumeji is human) Yumeji/Chaser is awesome.

Volume info: -Contains REM 30-34 -Extras include an omake, a very helpful relationship map (up to REM 34), 5 steps on how Ushiki-sensei draws the manga we read, a cracky spread of John Doe holding Isana in a uh, very lacey dress + everyone else as chibis and an atogaki. -No preview for Volume 7 unlike preview of this volume in Volume 5.
REM 30: -We are introduced to ‘Sonar’ Kurione [夢捜歌（ソナー）クリオネ], a servant of Heracles. She sings before Heracles talks to her about srs business that I can’t understand orz. -‘Familiar’ Region [影同心（ファミリア）レギオン] brings Yumeji’s class into a nightmare and wants Isana as a vessel. -After that it’s just Yumeji being badass and protecting Isana with Recede Gadget. I love how his right eye changes when he activates it and especially how different patterns appear when different items are summoned.
REM 31: -Isana runs with Yumeji for a while before stopping to rest. She talks to Yumeji about past events for some reason that I really can’t fathom because they are in a daydream for goodness sake. O_o -A dream demon finds them and makes them fall. Yumeji summons a chain using Recede Gadget. He tries to hold the chain and Isana to no avail, causing the latter to fall. -Don’t worry, because Merry’s in a position to save Isana. As Isana falls, she gets a flashback of little!Yumeji wearing a mask. IDK if this symbolizes something. Merry saves her, duh.
REM 32 -Basically Region’s pwned by Merry attacking it, and Yumeji using his previously summoned chain to immobilize it before Merry delivers the final blow.
REM 33: -We get a bath scene with Yumeji and John Doe. They talk about Yumeji’s existence and something about proof of being a dream demon? IDK, my Japanese sucks. -Merry opens the door as Yumeji steps out of the bath. Yumeji has that mindraped expression while Merry doesn’t seem to be shocked. LMAO. -John Doe and Merry talks about Merry’s 10 years in the real world while Yumeji changes and recalls about how Saki and Takateru reacted to his dream-seeing powers. Saki is being positive while Takateru is being negative about it. -Isana comes to the three of them, and Yumeji tells her the truth of everything about the dream world, dream demons and the battles that he’s been involved in. -John Doe tells her it’s real and she tries to strangle him as she finds out that she bathed him before -Isana notices that Merry’s scar is at the same place at where Yumeji’s healed scar was. -She tells Yumeji that he’s the only family she had other than her father because her mother had died a long time ago, so she doesn’t understand why Yumeji wants to do dangerous things. -Yumeji tells her that it’s alright and he’ll protect her with his blood of justice. Oh, Yumeji. -Isana’s father sees them and awkward moment ends this chapter.
REM 34: -Isana feels insecure and maybe jealus as she thinks that Yumeji and Merry together looked natural. (not sure about this orz) -She wonders whether it’s due to Merry’s scar. -Anyway, Isana says the most important sentence after John Doe’s ‘Are you really human?’ in Volume 5: ‘Do you like Yumeji?’ (夢路のこと、好き？) -Merry asks if it’s like how she likes Isana, Master and donuts or how she dislikes John Doe. -She asks Isana whether that’s a quote from a shoujo manga. Merry also reminds Isana that she is not human, so she doesn’t know how it’s like to fall in love. -Merry also states that she cannot exist now this way unlike how she was lost if not for Yumeji reaching out for her. After all, he gave her dreams and hopes and she believes in him. She says that Yumeji’s hand feels warm. -Isana thinks that what Merry said is wonderful, and that Merry actually likes Yumeji. At the same time, Isana thinks that she doesn’t have to courage to say anything. -Merry asks Isana the same question and Isana doesn’t answer. Isana also thinks that she has a problem of hiding things from others. -Scene changes to Yui and Nao. After practicing their instruments, they go home and Nao asks Yui whether she heard of Dream Loss Syndrome. Yui lies that it’s the first time she heard about it. -Nao doesn’t believe it as it’s a popular topic. ‘Detective Naomes’ (Sherlock Holmes parody LOL) will find it out. -She asks Yui whether she’s hiding anything. Yui says that she’s not, before for two part ways. -Nao feels uneasy. She know that when Yui lies, she’ll tug her hair using her right hand which she did when Nao asked her whether she heard about Dream Loss Syndrome. -At the end of the volume, Yui is having a flashback on when she first met Engi. Either that, or she meets Engi in a dream or dreams about Engi. I’m more inclined to think of the first case…:

Finished catching up! Holy shit it got epic.

Random impressions:

- For some reason I really like Ken-chan. Making a carefree but nice guy the primary victim of this arc is an excellent move by the author. It kept me wishing that he'll be saved in the end and everything will turn out alright.

- The last few chapters saw Yumeji leveled up repeatedly. Fortunately he's always had the personality so it doesn't feel like an arbitrary boost at all. Combined that with the cats' glorious entrance (you can't do better than that!) and you've got yourself something good.

- Less Isana is not good though. :( It's something of a lost bet because Merry is the eponymous heroine, but I'd much prefer Yumeji x Isana. Appreciate her better dangit, lover boy. =_=

- The anime actually adapted the first chapters better than the manga itself handles them in many parts. This is a pleasant surprise.

What volume does Pharos Elcres get defeated in the novels? I wonder whether the anime will get to that point or just go for a filler ending.

there's only 6 vols out, and from the sounds of it they havent fought him yet. Seems like its dealing more on yumeji's humanity and starting on a love triangle.

Wait, that was from the novels? I thought that was from the manga.

uh... someone can correct me if i am wrong, but i dont believe there is a light novel. Pretty sure this is adapted from a manga only.

Oh, my mistake. I thought the cover art was for a light novel for some reason.

Either way, though, I don't think we'll be seeing much of Elcres in the anime this season, if at all, considering we only have a few more episodes to go and I'm sure most of that will be anime-original content. I don't think we'll even touch volume 4.

And while Chaser is a Tsundere (and is slightly regulated to the bottom because of that) He's also taller, more mysterious, and all around cooler person the Yumeji is. Thus he tops. Or tops from the bottom.

It's surprising to see John Doe so quickly turn to the side of the protagonists, but meh. He's still cool.

John... you...I...I can't stop laughing at you. I'm sorry, but I really can't. Really? A cat body, on its hind legs, and with a cape?!

and 'Nyaa'? I have to wonder at you...

though I will agree that he turned over to the protagonists side too quickly, he is their important information well, so they can't let him wander off too far.

The latest chapter was hilarious, so many hilarious moment from Yui's 'Magical, chemical, cooking!" to John going Nya and played with fiddlestick by Merry. Unfortunately, with the way things are going in the anime we may not be able to see John Doe's 'Nyaa'...if it's not going on an anime original ending anyway. Well, this is mostly a fun relaxing chapter after the huge battle last time, although the question at the end is a pretty good cliffhanger. It is a bit suspicious, and there's a lot of hints to that direction...can't wait for the next chapter.

Aside from that, has anyone every thought that Isana may be more involved in the whole dream world thing?
If I recalled correctly, Isana mentioned that Merry looked familiar in the earlier chapters.
