So how are rarities distributed per pack/box?
Like... 5 commons, 2 uncommons and 1 rare or something?
Also, how rare are R, RR and RRR cards? And what about those listed as CR or something? Quite confusing.

@ FateAnomaly:
In worst cases you can use sites like google translation to get a rough translation of card texts and look at the original Japanese text and compare it with similar already existing translations (and their respective Japanese texts).
This way you will manage to get to know what that weird English coming out from translation machines actually means and can therefore use them for most of the cards since there usually are only very few which have more complicated texts.

That's how I started back when I had almost no knowledge of Japanese with Lycče.

1 Box - 20 packs
1 pack 8 cards---5 common, 2 uncommon, 1 Rare

Rare can be -
R -Rares (1 per pack)
CR -Climax Rare (1 per pack)
SR -Super Rare (1 per box)
RRR -Triple Rare (1 in 4 box) Alternate art foil
SP -Special (1 in 8 box)

That is to say in 1 full 20 pack booster box you will get at least 1 SR and the rest will be either R or CR.

In a trial deck there are also 2 cards that cannot be found in the boosters. Those are numbered as PR (Promos)

I remember why i dislike Japan CCG again. The absurd amount of super chase rares is they one that turns me off. I'm a collector syndrome and dislikes greatly when i dont get cards that i want.

FateAnomaly 2010-01-27 23:21

I agree with your sentiment. I also have the compulsion to collect the full set as well. Those chase rares just make it a lot more expensive to do it. There is also lots of promos as well. As such i can only reasonably afford to buy 2 series only. Otherwise i would have probably go for FSN and Nanoha as well.

Look at some TCGs in the US and Europe. YGO is expensive like hell and collectors sure have to put a lot of money on the table to get all cards (though I have to admit that cards are now getting slowly cheaper).
And... well... it isn't called Trading Card Game for nothing.

Anyway, so RRRs probably won't interest me much if it's only alternative artwork (except the case that I don't like the normal artwork). I'll probably buy some single SRs and PRs then.
Btw, what are SP? Are those special cards also just alternative versions of cards or entirely new?

Edit: Made a mistake

SR and SP are duplicates as well. Only difference is that it is foil.

Well... even though I take no particular liking to Disgaea (yet? I still haven't played any Disgaea game), I couldn't resist and ordered an English trial deck.
I guess I'll post my impressions of the game sometime next week or the week afterwards.

I do, but there isn't anyone here in Victoria who plays Weiss Schwarz.

I want to try playing online with a webcam and I think it's possible.

When you get the Disgaea English Trial Deck, can you tell me the translated ability of
DG/S02-103?

Sure, but isn't it already translated by WS@NK-DS.org?

FateAnomaly 2010-01-31 07:55

That site is fan translated. They make mistakes too. I am trying to confirm the translation of a specific line of text.

Well... I would translate the card slightly different than them.
Instead of "When this card battles and become yReversez" I'd translate it with "When characters that battle this card are reversed", though I'm not sure about that.

Well, we'll see once my trial deck arrives.

Thats exactly the line i am trying to figure out. The thing is they translate another similar line "このカードとバトル中のキャラが【リバース】した時" as what you wrote "When characters that battle this card are reversed" in the Sengoku Barsara Trial Deck.Whereas they translate "このカードとバトルしているキャラが【リバース】した時" as "When this character battles and becomes 【REVERSE】". Gives me a headache when i am trying to translate the boosters.

Weiss schwarz is a nice game really. I particularly like the rare stock system.

By the way, i'm creating a wikia that solves the problem of having not enough translation. We now have 2 translator working tirelessly, namely myself. Do come and help us proof-read. Asking questions is fine too, and we will prioritize pages that are more popular so ask away.

Nice! If I have time, I'll help out with it here and there.
Though I wonder when that'll be, considering I still want to translate several editions from Lycče and do other stuff.
Too much to do and too little time. (T__T)

Excellent, thank you sdarkpaladin. I'll place a link your website on the Weiss Schwarz facebook group.

Sorry for what might be an unnecessary question, but this CG is now in English (and being sold by a company)? I picked up a couple of packs awhile back while browsing the shop's cards for the "Quest of D", "Gundam Card Builder" and "Gundam War" games, but I keep seeing releases. Too expensive to keep up, I thought, as a result. :) But the late night TV show where "bush league" idols cosplay and do... stuff is sort of interesting to watch. :p
