Yes and no. The story isn't like HnG where it brings you along from the beginning. This one drops you right in after she has already been playing for a while.

That's a little disappointing, but I'll look forward to this all the same. I do like Shougi, and a good drama/mystery. As long as they manage the sport theme well enough (a genre I usually dislike; HnG and Yakitate Japan were the only 'sporty' series I've liked in the past =p) it should be good.

Manga was decent (or at least what's been scanlated so far).

Just read the manga. The manga is interesting and exciting. The artwork is good also. There's going to be a anime right? Wonder when it will be aired?

Well I'll be looking forward to this series as i loved Hikaru no Go, and I always thought that these kind of sports anime would be lame, stupid me

G. Zeus 2007-09-05 19:51

I've come across a few scanslated chapters in the past and the series looks promising. It's a hell of a lot more serious than the typical sports-based story (heck, how many of them start by mentioning the murder of the protagonists parents?).

Although my knowledge of shougi is nil, the characters were interesting and realistic enough to keep my attention. This is also the only story that I know of wherein one of the characters
Spoiler for It's a trap!:

FireChick 2007-09-06 14:48

Oh cool! The seiyuu for Kyouya (Ouran High School Host Club) is in this series! Now I wanna watch it more than ever!
