Basically, the story has the feel of a shounen tournament manga/LN, except the players are all basically "ojou-sama" characters (arguably minus the childhood friend). So there are a lot of rivalries and tensions between the characters, and the story revolves around a major competition and who will win. It should be said that their version of jousting is basically like "sports entertainment"; they're serious, but at the same time a lot of it is showmanship. Otherwise, the female characters begin to circle around the male protagonist because he was formally a very good jouster, but due to reasons is now wanting to be an assistant (and having a good assistant is critical to being in top form and winning -- which they obviously all want to do). So there's a bit of a competition over who he will choose as his partner (and obviously this ties also to romance, as you might expect). (There's a term for his role in the game, but I forgot it now; will have to look it up. IIRC, it's a German word. Edit: The word for his role is begleiter, which means "companion". Companion as opposed to assistant to give emphasis to how important a role it plays in the jouster's success.)

Anyway, I expect it to be entertaining for a one-cour anime, without huge expectations of what they can do in that short time. I'd expect the usual pattern of common route, an episode focused on each heroine, and a quick dash to a finish at the end. Sort of a "cursory overview" of the game. It does help a bit that the story revolves around a central event (the tournament) so it will be possible to blend multiple routes on one timeline to a certain degree. But this too poses its own challenges, as eroge-adaptation viewers can attest.
