Hakuoki Reimeiroku (prequel) + more Hakuoki projects

Studio DEEN has realised that Hakuoki was a success in Japan (and the English version of the game that was released in the US recently is getting good reviews) so it looks that we are going to expect more Hakuoki.

First of all, Kazama Chikage is getting his own OVA in June, being the last of Hakuoki Sekkaroku OVAs.

It also has been green-light the adaptation of Hakuoki's prequel, Hakuoki Reimeiroku for summer.

The story follows a 16 year-old boy called Ibuki Ryunosuke, who was raided by a group of sonnō jōi rōnins when he was heading towards Kyoto. They robbed all of his money, and left him to die. When he was about to starve to death, he is saved by a man called Serizawa Kamo. In exchange for saving him, Ryunosuke is forced to become Serizawa's servant. The place he is taken to is the quarters of a group of rōnins who will eventually be known as "Shinsengumi".

The opening will be performed by Maon Kurosaki (who sang the ending themes for the Hakuōki Sekkaroku OVA project)
Mao will contribute the ending theme song, just like on the first two television series.

If like in Hakuoki they maintain the cast of the game then the seiyuus for the new characters will be:

And a production on a two-part Hakuōki film project that will open next year has been green-lit. The film will tell an all-new story. Aika Yoshioka, the singer for the previous anime projects' opening theme songs, will contribute the theme song for the films.

Well more Hakuoki is all ways a good thing

This news made my day. According to Kazuki Yone's blog, the anime staff has invited her to be part of Hakuoki Reimeiroku anime project!!!

Kazuki Yone's works include Hakuoki, Hiiro no Kakera 1 and 3 (not too sure if she made HnK2) and Hanaoni.
She left Otomate (Idea Factory) company some time ago and it is said that it wasn't a pleasant departure (the last work she did for them was some art for Hakuoki Reimeiroku Portable). Since then all Hakuoki's recent art have been made by some artist trying to imitate her art (lots of fangirls were in rage with Otomate because of this).
She still loves Hakuoki so it's almost guaranteed that she will accept the offer.:D

Wow, I wasn't aware of this upcoming prequel until now. Great news indeed! More Kazama, plus a whole load of eye candies for my eyes to feast on.

Wish that story would be better here though.

I like Reimeiroku more than the original story-wise. There are more fights and assassinations (there's lots of blood)

My wish is that they don't follow YamazakiHijikata's route ending (Harada ending please)

The designs seem to be better than the other seasons

Yes, the anime will cover the events that happened when they were called Rōshigumi, which consisted on two factions: Shiekan faction whose leader was Kondou and Mito faction whose leader was Serizawa Kamo; the Lead Commander of Rōshigumi was Serizawa himself

Those who have knowledge of Shinsengumi history or seen anime/mangas which cover the Rōshigumi period like Kaze Hikaru know what to expect of Reimeiroku

Anyway a good start with an introduction of the characters. It seems like the anime will not follow Serizawa's route for now.

Although she appears a few seconds in the opening, finally I can see anime-Kosuzu!! She's so cute.
And didn't recognize Niimi for a moment! He looks uglier than in the game.

First Hakuouki opening (both in anime and games) without Aika Yoshioka as the singer, instead we have Maon Kurosaki. Liked the song.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in this show...

The first episode was pretty good. It was nice to see the cast alive and well again. The new main character (who is an original character, I think?) seems okay. His interactions with Serizawa were entertaining, given who their voice actors are. It was funny to hear "Gilgamesh" get called a mongrel :heh:

The opening was really nice.
Ibuki got himself beaten pretty badly.
He was lucky he got picked up by Serizawa.
Although he didn't get much of a welcome from the guys at first.
Guess they were all itching for him to prove himself.
That Hijikata is quite a character, always impressive & above the rest.
Nice first episode, will be watching it.

A shame that only few people are watching this, but oh well.

I think I wouldn't have enjoyed Serizawa and Ryu interactions if it weren't for their seiyuus.
BTW, Serizawa's fan is made of iron so Hijikata was really reckless. He was lucky that in the end Serizawa stopped or he would have ended up very bad.

The only original characters this season are Ryunosuke and the girl from the opening (well and Chizuru's father...).

Finally next episode will have one of the fight scenes that I always wanted to see animated.
