Well, it seems that this arc is covered rather quickly.
(Un)surprisingly, it ends with another dramatic punch.
Haha. Gotta love Awaki's expression.
10/10
Short but awesome. The teleport fight was really cool, namely the moment Kuroko realized she couldn't dodge the tables. Awaki's insecurity at the beginning was a bit surprising.
The conversations made sense and were interesting. Kuroko turned into GAR mode there for a sec, until Awaki fired that gun.:heh:
A special thing to note is the bgm which I think is shining greatly in this arc, especially the one starting after Awaki began crossing the street, going a "oneway road".
Accelerator's moments steal the centre of the episode for me, the animation around when he shows up and when he charges at Awaki is epic. I certainly don't dislike Accel's 'new hair' though I had to get used to it for a min. Oh, and I liked the reversed version of his clothes better but this is cool, too.
I don't pity Awaki for being kind of dumb, but I still feel for her.
Touma: fukou da...:D

obvious 10 and nothing more. Though at the beginning I was just eating my dinner and didn't pay any attention to it. The time when it hits 15 minutes and above.
Falcon Punch
Twister Punch
makes the whole episode.
"one way road"

^ I agree "one way road" is the best words to describe it!
seeing Accel work his way to the throne of the strongest once more is the greatest present in vol.8 even though its only 2 episodes its worth it!
nxt episode we'll see Tsuchi in action o yeah....2nd to my most favorite arc!
start of the daihaisei arc! Oriana nee-chin *hawt hawt kyun*
Having watched that scene for like 20 times now I must say Awaki's body isn't the best example for being delicate, seeing as how she looks rather fine for being literally smashed into a wall with highspeed.
Oh well, she's still sexy!

still awaki nevr knew that Accel is weak at close quarter combat well...evn if she knew... nothing will change though unless she has imagine breaker nobody can beat Accel in close quarters

Epic episode. Accel's hair is longer (makes sense since he's still hospitalised and didn't have a chance to cut it yet) and makes him look slightly like a girl at times when he was talking to Awaki. I also think his voice did get deeper, or maybe I just haven't gotten used to hearing it again... The fight scenes were really nicely animated, however I AM still disappointed that they cut out the part where Last Order cuts off Accel's speech calculations. Seriously, they couldn't spare thirty seconds for that?
Spoiler for volume 8 one place, one scene:
The noise that passed through the wall made Accelerator frown. Though the voice seems familiar, maybe he’s just worrying too much, Accelerator wonders. This single bed room isn’t wide, but besides the bed, there doesn’t seem to be anything. Accelerator lies on the bed, covering the blanket on himself again. Though his hair is growing extremely fast, and the wounds are healing abnormally fast, and he can even jump and play around, one has to remember that he’s a critically injured patient. If it’s an ordinary person, they probably wouldn’t even be able to stand up. A rectangular table is horizontally placed above the patient’s bed like an overhead bridge. This table is meant for the patient to have his meals. However, there’s a seemingly ten-year-old girl lying on the table, shaking her legs about. This girl used to be covered in a towel, but right now, she’s wearing a light blue cutie from some children’s fashion brand. This is one of the clothes that the lady in sports attire gave her.
“I heard from Yomikawa that her job last night was to go ‘outside’ and destroy an external organization called the ‘science society’, Misaka Misaka reports all the information that she heard from the Misaka network. That network had interacted with Amai Ao before, so they’re rather familiar with the ‘Tree Diagram’, Misaka Misaka describes with this sudden feeling.”
“Oh…”
“Yomikawa came back with black rings around her eyes; seems like she didn’t sleep at all, Misaka Misaka is sympathizing her regarding the age shown by her skin…eh? Why do you look so dead, completely different from usual? Misaka Misaka is really curious.”
“…I came back early in the morning. Now, I just want to sleep; tell me what you want to say later.”
“Ah—! It’ll be bad once you start sleeping!! Misaka Misaka decides to go into Misaka Alarm clock mode!! It’s daytime! It’s two hours till noon! Misaka Misaka kicks as she fawns, trying to re-motivate your mind that is about to sleep!”
“…”
This brat, did she experience something bad while I was sleeping? Accelerator suspiciously considers as he pulls the blanket and covers his ears. Though he just needs to use the electrodes and let the Misaka network handle the calculations for him to use his powers, the Misaka network would normally be in charge of the bare minimum redirection of handling language, calculation and reflecting ultraviolet rays. Besides, he can’t just waste the battery power so carelessly.
“Damn it, I really envy this kid. I was under the condition that my brain’s about to blow, worked so hard to leave the hospital, and came back in the morning. This brat can lie about in the air-con room and enjoy the benefits…! SOB REMOVBING MY SPEECH STOIT!!”
Talking halfway through, Accelerator is suddenly unable to speak coherently, and starts to roar and rage.
Actually, the Misaka network stopped the calculations for Accelerator’s speech ability.
Accelerator wanted to say “Don’t just remove my speech ability”.
“Misaka doesn’t want to help do the calculations for those who don’t listen, Misaka Misaka tries to protest in a cutesy manner…wa, WAHH! WHY ARE YOU WRAPPING MISAKA’S BODY IN A BLANKET!? MISAKA MISAKA SUDDENLY STARTS TO WORRY ABOUT HER OWN SAFETY!!”
Accel's beatdown of Awaki:
Spoiler for volume 8 break or crash:
(What to do…what to do…shouldn’t I contact that external organization…? Or should I try and contact other organizations? There should be a lot of those organizations that want this thing…yeah, that’s right. I still have…I still have many things to do! A goal…as long as I have a goal, I’m not finished yet!)
Musujime carries a distorted smile as she wears a shirt that looks like a torn rag, pushing the luggage bag as she moves on.
However, someone’s blocking her.
Musujime hears footsteps in front of her.
There’s a wide road in front of Musujime, with buildings on both sides. As this is considered near the edge of Academy City, there are very few vehicles on the road, and right now, there’s not even a single car around. The entire road is like a plane’s runway. At this moment, a person walks over from the side of the road.
Musujime doesn’t care who the person is.
She just feels irritated, not even caring to guard herself as she moves forward. She made up her mind, no matter who the person is, she’ll let any person who dares to obstruct her die extremely painfully and ugly.
That person walks up to the middle of the two-way six-lane wide road and stops, blocking Musujime.
That person’s…
“WHAT THE HELL!!”
Has a crazy, psychotic and dirty pale look.
“I heard that brat say that she got lots of information through the clone network, and found that there is something troubling that heavily involves them. On hearing that, I can only reluctantly help her settle this. I struggled so hard to use the crutch as support, and got the electricity into my brain, and finally made it here with so much difficulty. How did it end up like this? Also, what the hell is this one-of-its-kind collar-type electrode connector? That damn doctor, to think that he made me use this prototype that was made at the last second!”
Weird electrodes are stuck on his forehead, temples and neck, while his right hand is holding a crutch. The crutch has a rather modernistic design, a long stick with a handle attached to it. Doesn’t it look like an ‘iron-crutch’ in those old martial arts shows?
“Anyway, I worked so hard to get here, only to see the idiot who made me work so hard. I was so expectant…only to see that it’s third-rate stuff like you!? You looked down on me, didn’t ya? If I had known that my opponent is a third-rate thing like you, I would be too lazy to get out! You’re really making it troublesome for me!!”
The person standing in the darkness is the strongest Level 5 ESPer in Academy City.
Skin that is so pale it’s terrifying, that it can be seen clearly even in the darkness. Real name unknown, code-named ‘Accelerator’.
“Ugh…ah…!!”
With a glance at him,
Musujime’s breathing and heartbeat stop for an instant.
(This…this guy—)
Musujime Awaki’s lungs wriggle about in a weird manner. Her mind is in chaos, not even clear whether she should inhale or exhale.
(—This guy is…! This…this is bad! Not…not even the Railgun can beat him…how can I take him on…!?)
Musujime, who worked hard to pursue her goal, has now found a goal that is more important than handing the luggage bag over, a clear goal that is enough to change her own fate.
(…Got…got to find a way…find a way to escape…!)
The person standing in the middle of the road that is as wide as a plane runway forced Musujime to make a decision. She has to run away.
However, there is another huge problem? How?
Accelerator was just complaining about how in this situation, he met Musujime Awaki. But now, Musujime Awaki is thinking that she should be the one saying that.
The difference in level is too great. Such a trivial matter, this ESPer with insignificant power, why must such a terrifying person be called in to settle this? The extent of this fussiness is like mobilizing an air strike and destroying a country to stop children from fighting each other.
Musujime’s thoughts are rather messy.
It’s not enough to even use ‘an ordinary person versus a judo wrestler’ to describe the difference in power. If there is a need to drive the point home, it’s like ‘a tug-of-war match between a human and a jet’. It’s not a question of who win or lose. The jet could just not do anything and the human can’t even move it by half a millimeter.
It’s over.
Everything is over.
Musujime’s expression is distorted due to despair.
At this moment…
“…I got it.”
Like a crumpled piece of paper being unraveled, Musujime’s face regains its original look.
“I GOT IT! THAT’S RIGHT, YOU LOST YOUR CALCULATION ABILITY! YOU LOST YOUR POWER! COMPLETELY! RIGHT NOW, YOU’RE NOT THE STRONGEST ESPER ANYMORE!!”
Musujime cheers like a victor.
Accelerator, who’s standing in the darkness, is slightly shocked, and calmly says,
“What a pity.”
He pauses, waiting for a breeze to pass through.
“If you really think so, that’s too bad, I really want to hug you.”
“HAHA! STOP FAKING IT! I’M ALWAYS WITH ‘THAT PERSON’! I’M WELL INFORMED ABOUT INSIDE NEWS IN ACADEMY CITY. ACCELERATOR, YOU LOST YOUR ABILITY ON THE 31st OF AUGUST, SO YOU’RE NOT ‘ACCELERATOR’ ANYMORE, RIGHT!? IF SO, WHY ARE YOU JUST STANDING THERE? WHY AREN’T YOU ATTACKING ME? IT’S NOT THAT YOU DON’T WANT TO ATTACK, YOU CAN’T ATTACK, RIGHT? YOU’RE JUST TRYING TO SCARE ME WITH THAT PAST REPUTATION OF YOURS, RIGHT?”
Musujime loudly proclaims in a mocking tone, but the white figure just narrows his eyes.
Musujime feels that she’s being looked down on, some muscles below an eye inadvertently shudder.
“…! WHY AREN’T YOU SAYING ANYTHING! THIS REALLY MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE!!”
Musujime roars, but at the same time, she feels that something’s not right.
It doesn’t seem right. This person seems different from the characteristics given in the data of that Level 5 ESPer.
“You’re really pitiful. Listen, I’ll tell you one thing.”
The figure in the darkness slowly opens his arms wide.
“That day, my brain was damaged alright. Looking at me now, you should know, right? That I can only use the electrodes and let the calculation work be done by others, right? If I enter a place where I can’t receive the clones’ electrowaves, I can’t let the clones do the calculation work for me. And even after therapy, I can’t even get half of my power. The battery of this thing can only allow me to fight for 15 minutes—”
Talking up to this point, Accelerator pauses for a while.
“—But just because I’ve gotten weaker, it doesn’t mean that you got stronger, right?”
Accelerator reveals a distorted smile.
DON! Using the feet that are supporting him on the ground, he stamps hard on it.
A shockwave from below to above happens on the hard surface. Accelerator bends his body, and with his feet at the center, a radial crack appears in the asphalt ground, and noise is created from all the buildings around. The skeletal frames of the buildings are bent, a large number of glass windows are shattered, and the pieces of broken glass rain down like a torrential rain.
(This is—impossible…!)
Musujime looks up at the sky. The ‘rain’ formed by the broken pieces of glass came from all the buildings, scattering on every corner of the road. As the area is too big, she can’t escape using Move Point. Escaping into the buildings isn’t a wise option as the distortion of the building structures has caused all the glass to be shattered, so the interior won’t be the same. If the target of Move Point overlaps with the collapsed wall, she’ll be buried.
(If so…the only way out…is up!)
Musujime grabs the luggage bag and quickly uses Move Point, passing through the rain of glass pieces, arriving in the night sky several meters above the ground. Move Point caused a sense of vomiting in Musujime as she tries to suppress this feeling. She tries to force herself to activate Move Point again before she lands; the target is onto the roof of a certain building. Moving her own body consecutively is an extremely tough challenge for her.
But at this moment, Musujime’s mind turns blank. All the values that she worked so hard to calculate vanish without a trace.
“Ha ha! Thank you for letting me enjoy the scenery underneath your skirt!!”
Accelerator crushes the cracked asphalt road even further, shooting up into the night sky like a rocket. Besides changing the vector forces on his feet, 4 high-powered tornadoes are attached to his back.
In Musujime’s eyes, Accelerator is an angel rushing towards the sky.
One that has fallen into this mundane world, a thoroughly tainted angel, launching a counterattack at the wonderland in the sky.
Accelerator rushes into the layers of glass rain, deflecting them all and passing through them easily. He’s completely unscathed, rushing over at Musujime Awaki at the speed of a cannon.
He clenches his fist.
Actually, the ‘卜’ shaped crutch was broken into several pieces, flying in the sky. The fist that’s like a devil carries the entire speed and force of his body, slamming towards Musujime’s face.
“……!?”
In this situation, calmness is a luxury.
Musujime, who gave up on the calculations, immediately uses the luggage bag as a shield. However, this negligible defense is broken to pieces instantly once Accelerator’s iron fist slams it. The exterior of the luggage bag is smashed to pieces, the middle layer that’s meant to endure impact is flying all over the place, and the ‘content’ that was tightly sealed becomes numerous parts and pieces, flying all around from Musujime’s hands like sakura petals.
“I'm sorry, from here on now, the path is only a "One-Way Street (Note: In Japanese, Accelerator is read as Ippō Tsūkō, the same as ‘one-way street’)!”
The ESPer curls his lips and smiles,
“You can't advance, just hide behind your tail and cry your way home!”
Musujime’s throat releases a weird sound.
The hard fist pierces through the luggage bag at a terrifying speed and smashes her on the face.
BAM!!
Musujime Awaki’s body is sent flying away diagonally to an even higher place, landing on a safety metal net on the edge of the roof of a building. The numerous pillars supporting the metal net are uprooted, as Musujime’s body is like a soccer ball that hits the back of the net, unable to move forward anymore.
Accelerator, who released all the force from his body, doesn’t do anything. Due to the effect of gravity, he starts to fall down to the ground covered in darkness.
But his eyes aren’t looking at the ground.
As he descends, he slowly looks up at Musujime, who was slammed into the roof, muttering,
“With this pitiful state of mine, maybe I might not have the right to be called the strongest in Academy City.”
He silently narrows his eyes.
“However, I’ve already made up my mind. I’ll always be the strongest in front of that brat, damn it!!”
These words echo throughout the night wind as nobody listens to it. Accelerator continues to descend toward the ground.
I'm still pretty happy about this episode though. Best episode so far with a really nice budget and voice acting. I wanna give Awaki a hug. :heh:

Awesome episode
The Kuroko and Awaki battle was short but cool. The scene when Touma jumps on the rocks, catch Kuroko and cancel the teleportation is Epic, and YEEEESSSS Accel score his first Falcon Punch.
Next arc: Daihaseisai Festival!!!!!!

Gave the episode a 9/10, Accelerator almost made me bump it to a 10 though :heh:.
Some pretty nice background music in some scenes, and some cool fights.I have one question though.
Spoiler:
I think at the end of index first season I missed some details concerning Accelerator. He received damage to his brain during the episodes with Last Order, but now he uses the Misaka network to process all the information externally? Why does this make him weaker if the end result is the same?

Well, not really much of a spoiler now that the episode's down (and I haven't watched it, going back to Army). But it's a long story. That headshot last season disables his processing capabilities, so Heaven Canceller said to Yoshikawa that he would be using the SISTERs for something. That something allows Accelerator to let the SISTERs process all the calculations required for his powers to be used. You see the choker on his neck? The black thing? That's his switch for the powers. He's weakened here because he can only use this for 15 minutes before the battery runs out.

Damn, a fun episode. Accelerator even after what happened still is a monster. Of course he has loads of things making him weaker so he probably should avoid fighting any top tier opponents for now. Seems even that doctor can only do so much. Of course being able to even do this is still impressive. That girl was just completely out of her league. Thought for a moment she teleported badly and got some of those glass shards inside her. Of course that punch just settled the whole fight. Unless it's Touma hard to deal with the terror of Accelerator in close combat. Was fun watching him cut loose a little bit.
The 15 minutes thing isn't too bad of a handicap. I mean it's not exactly easy to fight against him and last for half that time. Though does mean he's under pressure to finish fights quickly and not let them drag out.
Good second round attempt by Kuroko. She definitely got her hits in. Though pushed herself just a little beyond her limits and almost lost her life in the process.

To add, even with the Sisters Network he can only use less than a half of his original powers for a short time.

Spoiler for weakened accel:
It makes him weaker because the calculations of 10000 SISTERs gives only about half of his original calculating power back. Yes, his mind is that insanely powerful. Also, the battery on the choker on his neck is a prototype and can only last for 15 minutes when he turns ESP mode on.

I went ahead and fixed that for you. There's no reason for Touma or anyone else to actually have been able to beat Accelerator before he chose to take that bullet to the head.
This episode felt really rushed, particularly the teleporter fight. What was up with Kuroko not being able to teleport? Did I miss the explanation for that or was it just skipped?
The sight of Kuroko rising from that pile of extremely heavy looking furniture was cool, but totally unbelievable. I felt really bad for the other chick though. She really just needed a hug. I have no idea why it was necessary for Accelerator to come through and punch her straight into that building.

What was up with Kuroko not being able to teleport?
Kuroko needs absolute focus when teleporting, and this absolute focus can be disturbed by any kind of stress.
