The Amagami to Chaos;Head's Kimikiss, this also moves into the world of the animated. More info as it becomes available.

Singer/voice actress Halko Momoi also posted about the television anime adaptation in her Twitter account.

The game is the second "scientific adventure game" from 5pb. and Nitroplus, who also created Chaos;HEAd. The artist huke (Black Rock Shooter) designed the characters. The suspense story takes place in a realistic version of Tokyo's Akihabara otaku shopping district. The game originally shipped for the Xbox 360 console last October, and a Windows port is shipping on August 26. Yomi Sarachi launched the main manga adaptation in the November 2009 issue of Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine, and Kenji Mizuta launched the Steins;Gate: Bōkan no Rebellion spinoff in the February 2010 issue of Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Blade magazine.

Will be looking forward to this :)

This is considered to be at least twice as good as the original Chaos;Head game, so... I guess the anime adaptation will be twice as good too? :heh:

Hope Madhouse doesn't get this, at least.

Imagine that the anime will be produced by AIC Spirits.

I'd be fine if they did, though don't let the same team handle it. :p

At least the huke designs should look pretty sweet animated.

It was no accident though. By assigning Chaos;Head to a mediocre team and then outsourcing most of the work overseas, Madhouse showed how little they cared about the property. To them, C;H was just an obscure, otaku pandering product that attracted an audience too tiny to care about (the PC game didn't sell all too well).

Whether they'd treat Steins;Gate any better depends on the current business strategy, as well as their perceived popularity of the title. Usually, Madhouse doesn't care about the hardcore otaku niche. However, their financial situation has also been shaky in recent years, so they may eventually be forced to go in directions they aren't entirely accustomed to.

Shiroth 2010-07-26 04:48

^That's basically what i'm hoping for Madhouse to do, because it's about time they grew a little bit as a studio then keeping up with the same formula for so many years. I've got nothing against what they've done because the majority of it has been successful work, though you can only go so far with adapting source material and doing your own anime original ending, over and over again.

Their films are still A+ works though.

Ironic, considering Chaos;Head's main character...

Mizuno 2010-07-26 07:08

As long as it's not Studio DEEN who gets it...

Really?? I loved Chaos;Head, I thought the game was really good and creepy, even though the anime adaptation was terrible.

I really want to play that game.

velocity7 2010-08-11 18:21

Right now Frontier Works and Media Factory are named, so it's not likely this will go to Madhouse. Looking forward to see how this gets adapted, as the game is easily one of the best visual novels out there. Chaos;Head can't even compare to it.

If you check out the official website, you will notice different divergence numbers ticking at random if you keep refreshing. I won't say much more because it'd be spoilers... except that this ticker is related to this twitter post. Click at your own risk.

I am a bit tempted to post a twitter to @chiyomaru5pb this Friday at 7:56 PM JST...

MisaoFan 2010-08-12 04:42

What's the name of animation studio for Steins;Gate ? AIC ? Or other ?

Kamion 2010-08-12 09:38

I really hope it's not DEEN. Not STEINS;GATE please... I heard so many great things about this and the anime will probably start Spring 2011, so I'll have finished the VN by then (I don't have a japanese XBox 360 yet, might get one for christmas... but the game comes out for PCs on the 26th anyway, so I can play it once it arrives).

I don't play a lot of VNs, especially not in Japanese since it takes forever (I'm so badddd) but this really intruiges me, just like 428 and Chaos;Head which I yet have to play... Gonna finish Umineko EP6 first, though... And with EP7 this week/next week... Well.

I just hope the anime won't be crap.

Chrisjon 2010-08-12 09:51

I got the soundtrack to this game about a week ago. Just because the piano theme was so good. Didn't know about this though. I will definitely be watching it.

_eternal 2010-08-12 14:42

I knew there was a lot of hype around this show but I never realized how significant Steins;Gate is compared to the rest of Nitro+'s games. It's hard to say whether or not the anime will be good because this stuff can be tricky to adapt well, to say the least...

Leo_Otaku 2010-08-12 23:31
