Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunso season 1 and 2)

anyone know what this is about?

JustAnotherFan 2004-05-16 12:29

If you click on the http://www.animesuki.com/images/series_more.gif on an entry you get to the series page. An there you find a lot of links that provide all sort of information about a series. You should try it :)

BTW: I linked the icon in this thread to the info page of Keroro Gunso aka Sergeant Ribbit so you can immediately try it :)

I just downloaded it, and for some reason, the subtitles aren't working for me... is there something you need to do with mkv filess, or it just a raw, and not a fansub?

I don't have the file, but you probably need to turn "subtitles" on in whereever you're watching this with.

Chao Otaku 2004-05-16 15:54

Oh, okay... I forgot about that (this is my first time using Videolan ^^)

do you have a Matroska Splitter (mkv) installed ?

you can get it either from http://matroska.org or http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/

alternatively you can use MPC

Nope, I didn't have it... Hope not to be too much trouble, but where do I put it now that I've downloaded it?

sOnJoOL 2004-05-16 19:23

for me this seems interesting. just by looking at the pic at anidb....
does anyone else think this is okay?

stpehen 2004-05-16 20:15

It's all right. The wackiness of the manga has been diluted quite a bit in the anime, but it's still entertaining. I don't know why they put the two stories in the first episode in that particular order, since it didn't seem like there was any reason not to start with the introduction of the characters, but oh well.

Gaiamera 2004-05-16 20:41

i watched some chinese sub(.rm, bad bad quility...) and comics of keroro
that one is funny as h3ll, highly recommand it
btw live-evil has a promo clip for this title..

Hikari 2004-05-17 00:27

Hmm I might check this one also, seems cute and funny. BTW there seemed to be an excessive amount of Gundam cameos in the epsiode lol (being produced by Sunrise eh?)

MrBrown 2004-05-17 02:14

I've followed the Keroro anime, and although it started slow IMO it's hilarious now.

Is the manga really that much better?

So L-E will sub this show??? I dun wanna get another codec (matroska) just to watch this series. Maybe I should wait for L-E version if they really gonna sub it.

Gaiamera 2004-05-17 04:46

WinXP/2k =>(windows folder)\system32
Win9x/ME =>C:\windows\system

and then go to START=>RUN=>"Regsvr32 MatroskaSplitter.ax" (to unistall Regsvr32 /u MatroskaSplitter.ax)
incase you face some problems

I personally don't favour using mkv container (hate it), and since L-E are subbing it I'll wait ^^

Matroska isn't really a codec, it's just a container for multiplexing AV-streams (like .avi or .ogm). It's got some really nice features, though, like the ability to index video by chapters (so you can skip between scenes like a DVD), include menus, and soft-subtitles (you can turn them off if you want to see the picture behind them). You can also include an arbitrary number of audio or subtitle streams. Here is an ambitious look at what the format is capable of: http://ld-anime.faireal.net/twhe2-9/

The same folks also have a very easy guide to setting up matroska support on your system: http://ld-anime.faireal.net/guide/mkv-eng

I think this format will increase in popularity as more groups look at the advantages it offers (I know I'll be using it for further sADTRW releases)
