Fullmetal Alchemist - Requests for new threads

Since the Fullmetal Alchemist forum is now limited (only Mods and Admin can create new threads), this thread serves as a way to request a new thread to be created.

Please post here if you wish to request a new Fullmetal Alchemist thread. Please bear in mind that we will only accept reasonable requests, we wish to maintain the focus within the forum and cut down on the noise (so no pointless threads cluttering up the place).

Don't forget that you may still post in existing threads as usual, the only restriction is that you may not create new threads within this particular forum.

ed's new state name?

if al was a state alchemist and called the fullmetal alchemist instead of ed what would ed's state name be?

NoSanninWa 2007-03-07 01:48

That really, really doesn't need a thread to discuss it. It is barely even a topic. We prefer topics that are likely to generate discussion, not just a list of other potential titles that Ed could have had in an alternate world.

Music/Song Identification & Lyrics Request

Stephanie 2007-08-08 06:39

I would like to request for a thread named..

"Reasons behind making this Anime"

I would discuss how it relates to everything practically in real life..

To be honest, the reasons behind making the anime was money, it was produced because it was seen as a profitable commercial project.

Now if you mean what were the reasons for making the manga, well you will have to ask the mangaka that (apart from the obvious "because it was thought it might be popular").

Wouldn't the existing [Manga] Manga Plot & Story Discussion thread be suitable for such a discussion.

Stephanie 2007-08-08 06:56

Well, I meant how it actually relates in "real life"
And practically, almost everything in this anime signifies a meaning..

Though, if someone started this topic, I'll just find the topic.. =P

xris 2007-08-08 07:03

In which case can you give an example of what you mean by making the first post of such a topic (here in the thread). Make the post as if you were creating the thread yourself, give an example of what you mean and set the scene for the way you would like the discussion to progress. If it seems a suitable thread for discussion then the post can be split from here and new thread created.

Stephanie 2007-08-08 07:14

Ok, if I had to create a thread, I would start out like this..

"Title for whatever is suitable name for the thread"

At first when I was watching the anime for the first time, I liked it not because of it's Alchemy stuffs and theory (Although those are pretty cool too), I watched it because I can always see how much it relates to our world, our government, our system.. It opened my eyes more when I was able to read this poem:

Quote:

TERMINUS
~Nicholas Christoper

Here is a piece of required reading
at the end of our century
the end of a millennium that began with the crusades

The transcript of an interview
between a Red Cross doctor
and a Muslim girl in Bosnia
twelve years old
who described her rape by men
calling themselves soldiers
different men every night one after the other
six seven eight of them
for a week
while she was chained by the neck
to a bed in her former schoolhouse
where she saw her parents and her brothers
have their throats slit and tongues cut out
where her sister-in-law
nineteen years old and nursing her baby
was also raped night after night
until she dared to beg for water
because her milk had run dry
at which point one of the men
tore the child from her arms
and as if he were "cutting an ear of corn"
(the girl's words)
lopped off the child's head
with a hunting knife
tossed it into the mother's lap
and raped the girl again
slapping her face
smearing it with her nephew's blood
and then shot the mother
who had begun to shriek
with the head wide-eyed in her lap
shoving his gun into her mouth
and firing twice

All of this recounted to the doctor
in a monotone
a near whisper in a tent
beside an icy river
where the girl had turned up frostbitten
wearing only a soiled slip
her hair yanked out
her teeth broken

All the history you've ever read
tells you this is what men do
this is only a sliver of the reflection
of the beast
who is a fixture of human history
and the places you heard of as a boy
that were his latest stalking grounds

Auschwitz Dachau Treblinka
and the names of their dead
and their numberless dead whose names have vanished
each day now find their rolls swelled
with kindred souls
new names new numbers
from towns and villages
that have been scorched from the map

1993 may as well be 1943
and it should be clear now
that the beast in his many guises
the flags and vestments
in which he wraps himself
and the elaborate titles he assumed
can never be outrun....

As that girl with the broken teeth
loaded into an ambulance
strapped down on a stretcher
so she wouldn't claw her own face
will never outrun him
no matter where she goes
solitary or lost in a crowd
the line she follows
however straight or crooked
will always lead her back to that room
like the chamber at the bottom
of Hell in the Koran
where the Zaqqum tree grows
watered by scalding rains
"bearing fruit like devils' heads"

In not giving her name
someone has noted at the end
of the transcript that the girl herself
could not or would not recall it
and then describes her as a survivor

Which of course is from the Latin
meaning to live on
to outlive others

I would not have used that word
In every war, men lose their morality and rape people.. And that symbol in FMA is Rose..

"that the beast in his many guises
the flags and vestments
in which he wraps himself
and the elaborate titles he assumed
can never be outrun...."

~Basically, what this quote meant was the person causing the havoc puts up his mask of "I'm doing this for the sake of the country, blah, blah, blah.." Like George Bush when he attacked Iraq..

Like the Fuhrer (I know he was being copied by envy but still, people in the military obeyed him, right? Roy killed the 2 doctors treating the patient, etc etc..)

**Well, this are just a few examples.. Mind you, this poem is a true story, and what's in there is happening every second of our lives right now..**

Someone please try and make sense into all this. :help:

Ok i would like to request a thread concerning this.

I recently just finished watching all the episodes including the movie but something doesn't make sense to me. Well whats bugging me is, there is two worlds as far as i know on each side of the gates so when someone someone dies in the world where you can do alchemy i will call it "alchemy world" e.g. like when ed died, his soul and mind went through the gate to the other world but there is two ed's :S so according to the anime he fell and ended up in ed's body in the other world (the world with ed's father) and he managed to keep all his memories and knowledge but i dont know what happened to the previous ed that he took over. so in conlusion this forced me to think that there is a Parallel person for each person in the alchemy world that shares the same characteristics but not the mind as hughes for example, how come he lost all of his memories and knowledge in the movie when he died and went to the other world? when ed didn't?. in al's case when ed brought him back alive, was he born again? and when in the end he went to the other world and the other al died, does that mean that there is only 1 al left and what happens if that al dies? how come hughes wife was in the side of the gate when she wasn't even dead but i would assume there is two of her in both worlds. so what i know is when someone dies in the alchemy world" their soul goes through the gate to the other world and they take over the body of the same person with the characteristics in the other world which i would assume they keep their memories and knowledge but thats really doubtful now. also one of my friends mentioned that the manga has a completely different ending and some characters in the anime such as greed wasn't in the manga...is that true and how much comparisons is there to the manga and the anime?

so much questions to answer :( i am so buffed!!!

has a thread for transmutation circles been made yet?
if not is it possible for one to be made? when i say this i mean a thread for transmutation circle images, from the anime or original ones that you make urself.

if this request is contemplated and allowed can the title be "make ur own circle" or something similar please?

deiinokunoichiXD 2008-03-10 12:33

Hmm how bout a homunculus thread?

xris 2008-03-10 15:40

To be honest, the series is rather old as there isn't much activity in this sub-forum. Have either of you tried searching to see if any of the existing threads on transmutation circles or homunculus would do?

If not, then please provide a little justification on why a new thread is needed along with a suggested opening post which will define the scope of the topic under discussion :)

What, you mean apart from the FMA Image Request / Submission Thread :)

Konpachi 2009-03-20 08:02

As the new 'season' begins, people might want sigs and gifs, so the "Fullmetal Alchemist Signature & Avatar/GIF Request Thread" might be nessicary.

Also, a "FMA Ridiculous Image Thread" can brach off from the "FMA Image Request / Submission Thread". However, one may wish to wait until there is an overwhelming collection of ridiculous FMA images appearing in the "FMA Image Request / Submission Thread" that it deserves its own thread.

I think one existed but it is worth creating a new thread ready for the new season. Also created a Voice Actor Appreciation & Discussion in case it's needed.

Fullmetal Alchemist - Avatar & Signature Request Thread [Read Guidelines]
Fullmetal Alchemist - Voice Actor Appreciation & Discussion

We can wait and see if there is need for a FMA Ridiculous Image Thread or not :)

Jarmel 2009-04-03 20:10

I want to suggest pretty much creating a new board or somehow making it clear the difference betwen the two shows like putting Brotherhood or 2 in all the titles of the threads. The mix of old episodes and new is going to make this a mess.
