Games vs. Anime, which should come first?
I just want others opinion on whether you rather watch the anime first or play the game that the anime was based on(dating sims, etc.)?
I'm going to watch Shuffle!, Clannad sometimes in the future and was pondering whether it would better to play the game first then watch the anime, or vice-versa. What do you guys think? |
for clannad its def. better to play the game first
|
Well there are series in which you'll def miss out if you haven't played any of the games, the only case that would count for me is Devil May Cry, though the anime isn't literally one of the games but then animated. If you start playing DMC then you'll get how great it actually is because you do things and don't just watch
As for Basara, the game if I recall correctly was more of a streetfighter game so you wouldn't miss out much in those cases it would be anime before game IMO It all depends on what kind of game it is in the end |
I don't bother playing the game
|
I'd watch the anime, then play the game afterwards personally :)
Or I'd just stick with the anime, depending on my mood :p |
Whichever came first should come first. If there's an anime that is based on a game I'd play the game first. If there's a game based on an anime I'd watch the anime first. So in the case of your question, Flutters, I'd want to play the game first.

Depends. Mostly, the anime is shorter(from the story) and less detaileted than the game. I´d like to play/watch/read that first, which is the shortest.
If the game is awsome but the anime bad, then you will be dissappointed, if you play the game first and watch the anime afterwards. ;) |
If the game is out first, definately watch the anime first. Usually, anime doesn't have time to animate every great things the game has to offer, so if you play the game and then watch the anime, you'd feel disappointed about the anime not being complete or satisfying. Also, if you play the game and then watch the anime, almost everything about the anime will be spoiled to you, lowering the impact anime delivers in crucial scenes, etc. But if you watch the anime first, there will probably stuff in the game that you don't know about, so it would still be a bit fresh. Actually, the opposite can be applied as well though, like anime having filler-like scenes that not in the game.

Personally, I prefer to watch the anime first because it may change the paths and routes I pick for the game whereas my decision may not be the same without watching the animes first.
|
No preference. Whichever i come across first.
|
If it's an adaptation of VN... I'll definitely play the game first.
|
Anime, then the game. If you play the game, too often your expectations are too high for the anime because you want them to put in every last little detail from the game, when the anime probably doesn't have the budget for that.
I say the same for anime and manga. Watch the anime first, then read the manga. You enjoy both so much more that way. |
play the game and watch the anime at the same time... maybe
|
The anime always comes first for me.
Wouldn't have been interested in Higurashi Daybreak if I wasn't a fan of the anime first. |

Myself, I usually play the game first. I like to see stuff as it was originally intended to be experienced. |
Well I go for the anime first. If it's interesting and I want to interact in that universe, I'll get the game.
|
Whichever came first. If the anime was based off the game, then the game first. Vice versa. Whatever comes second, is based off the original is usually lame.

However, there are a few exceptions. I'd say don't bother with the ChäoS;HEAd anime. |
It's better if I will watch the anime first...http://animepisodes.info/images/07a9...58dee231fa.gif
