The ecchi parts were not as bad as people made out to be or maybe it was just me... Oh gosh the Shmion scene reminded me of the first Hen Zemi OVA. I really liked the remix of "Ai" BGM, I wonder if they will release an OST? *o* I laughed so much in this episode.

The Takano & Keiichi scene reminded me of a dream I had once. Exact same thing except scenery was somewhere else in the school (some dark place) and Keiichi had a dog collar. xD;; I loved how Rika said she's not going to forgive Takano and then responded with a "NIPA~"

Oh yeah and Mion finally using a gun. Haha.

Animation wise, I think it was better than Rei actually.

I loved how they parodied Onikakushi-hen. Dem troll faces lolol. Keiichi's monologue. xD

Can't wait for episode 2! So psyched!~ Magical Girl Rika and Tuxedo Mask-esque Keiichi (I hope) ? I hope they work together! *o*

Just finished watching the RAW. Some of the scenes were funny (reaction guys made my day), but I think they went WAY overboard with Rika, Mion and Takano. Tomitake happily taking photos of a ten-year-old's naked butt is just... just... wrong D:

I love Higurashi, it's like my favourite anime and the only one I swore to myself i'd follow even if I lost interest in anime [which admittedly I have, think it's time to sell my mangas, DVDs and figures -__-] but do I really wanna watch this? :heh:

I mean if it's so bad I can just skip it I guess but the whole thing looks abit meeeh anyway. :mad:

It's really not that bad, if you have time to kill then it's good for a few laughs :heh: I personally liked it for its ridiculousness, even if DEEN did make certain scenes very...shiny and detailed.

Wow. That was the most shamelessly degrading anime episode I've seen in my life. Downright embarrassing to watch, they're basically selling porn at this point.

Thankfully they made it painfully clear with the preview for the next episode that this is what the entirety of Kira will be about, so anyone with a semblance of respect for the series and its characters can drop it after one pathetic episode, which is what I'll do.

I do hope you realize that this very arc was part of the original VN's. I can't understand why people forget that Higurashi is also FUNNY, especially because of how absolutely shameless the characters can be. That being said, DEEN is being DEEN, which not even I can fault them for, because they've always been trolls (and DEEN has every right to troll Shaft in Kira #2). That said, I'll share my own view of Kira #1 after the 1080p subs are posted (so in about 13 hours).

Okay.

Now point to where in my post did I complain about the focus on humour.

Because, you know, I didn't.

That being said, that episode wasn't even funny, much less FUNNY.

And it being in the VN doesn't really excuse the ridiculously pandering way it was adapted. Not to mention even the author realised how silly and irrelevant it was and relegated it to a mere extra story even though it was originally planned to be an epilogue to Meakashi-hen.

I was reading Matsuribayashi-hen when I saw that Kira was released so I picked it right then because it is better to not have too much distance between it and the main higurashi in order to get a proper opinion

I think it would be rather better if they used these OVAs to animate the games or manga exclusive instead doing weird things .I know this one is a original rei one but next ones aren't (if you want to adapt pervert novel material it would be better to adapt some of the angel mort scenes that don't appear on the anime)

Really bad episode imo. I agree that it was really degrading to the characters. I mean, Keiichi fantasizing about the girls is usually funny, not extremely graphic and disgusting. I'll openly say I'm a huge pervert but I also don't like it when something takes characters I really love and essentially makes them nothing but fanservice objects.

Also, though I haven't read it, I also highly doubt that Ryuukishi went into describing the nipple licking/crotch cameltoe views that DEEN seemed to focus on in parts of this in the original. It just doesn't fit with how Keiichi's fantasies usually get described.
