Wataru Watari x QP:flapper's Dengenki novel project "Girlish Number" is getting an anime.
It's featured as an anime original despite being a part of the novel franchise. (I think it's like a mix media project but anime is part of it)

Premise:
The story follows the lives of Chitose Karasuma, a college student who aspires to be an idol voice actress, and other young women in the industry.

It was... very Watari-sensei like I guess? Which is a good thing if you happen to like his writing style.

Very refreshing 1st episode, sarcasm everywhere but refreshing still.

Looking forward to next week.

GAHAHAHA!!!

Let's see if they show how cruel the seiyuu world can be, we saw a glimpse of how b**** a seiyuu can be.

Ep 01

Oh wow. Count me in with the poor onii-chan who was face palming at the end at the interactions between his imo and the two producers. The meeting totally gave off the feel of a potential disaster waiting to explode, but at the same time watch it be successful in an unexpected, weird way. :D

I actually liked the realism and the ... not snark, but the biting tone and, yes, the sarcasm present throughout most of it. It was not overbearing, but it was definately there and was definitely ... not exactly not pulling it's punches but hitting others in ... weaker, more fragile parts of others/the industry.

The facial expressions of the imouto made me giggle quite a bit, by the way - I tend to enjoy Flapper's Chara designs in general, but these looked quite nice, I thought.

While the OreGairu series did not click with me as much, this episode did a bit more. I am interested, yes, but am not quite feeling the whole hearted impulse to commit to this one.

Even so yes - just from watching episode one the seiyuu and anime industry as portrayed there does indeed to have, very odd aspects to it. Odd, idiotic, infuriating, puzzling and yet weirdly endearing in terms of how they are presented here, perhaps, but ... well, yeah. Some things are better left in silence, perhaps. :heh:

I knew watari wouldn't disappoint me.

I love the character interactions and the self deprecation. Chitose literally got the role because she was cute and ate yakiniku that day. Connections really do get you places. Also lol at light novel anime hardly if ever listens to the original author. Though I find it somewhat sad that prose isn't taken as seriously as pictures, seiyuus, or music. It's also isn't done in a completely negative way which is rather more realistic. Working conditions aren't the best but it's workable. Fits a lot of different places as well heh.

Chitose and gojou's relationship remind me of kasumi and asuha. Not that that is any surprise.

I get a slight Shirobako feeling from this.

The main characters seems decent so far although I would expect more characterization about them as more episodes air. Out of all the main cast, I like Shibasaki the most with her confidence and coolness.

Oh wow. Sore ga Seiyuu was severely depressing because the way that show is presented, it says that 'this is the seiyuu life and this is normal'. This show on the other hand says, 'this is the seiyuu life and this is weird'. Considering I'm more aligned with the latter, I'm genuinely surprised at me liking this show more than I anticipated. Now the question is will it keep my interest in the end?

Apart from the incest baiting (honestly I think THAT is probably the only thing that will keep me in the show XD), I actually like that black haired character the most. Sometimes I'm appalled at the life seiyuus has to go through, and at least here we have one character who doesn't just take it, but actually speaks out she doesn't being like that at all. She thinks she's an 'actor' first and foremost, and I LOVE the pride she takes in what she does. Two thumbs up for her!

So far, it's the best new show of the season, though it's about 10 mins until March Comes in Like a Lion. I loved the pilot at least when I thought I will hate it, but I will know shortly if the previous sentence is a bit premature. XD
