Damn, this why I love Madhouse. We might gonna miss them soon :(
|
Been a while since Madhouse adapted something new that's not based off an American comic book. The staff isn't too shabby either. Will be looking forward to seeing if the studios still got it.
|
I heard this won some kind of award, but I was unimpressed after chapter 6 of the manga. I hope what comes after the latest translated chapter(9) can capture the magic that was in the first 6 chapters.
|
^ Yeah it won the shoujo category for the 35th Kodansha Manga Award
|
Asaka Morio is one of my favorite madhouse directors. This just instantly made it to my "must watch" this fall.
I was never into marvel so I'm glad to see something new that isn't marvel related. Really glad Madhouse havn't given up on the shojo/josei demographic,my dream of one day seeing a Kiyoku Yawaku anime might not be so foolish after all. |
This is the series you suggested. :) Not fan of the "card game", but I'll definitely check it out for the staff.
|
Finally a shoujo show where the heroine is more concerned about her own future than her love interest.
|
The official website was revamped two days ago: http://www.ntv.co.jp/chihayafuru/index.html
I quite like that key visual. (Though I didn't think Taichi's hair would be so dark?) Then the best news to me is probably that this is getting a BD release unlike the previous shoujo show on the timeslot (Kimi ni Todoke). |
Cast:
Ayase Chihaya - Seto Asami Majima Taichi - Miyano Mamoru Wataya Shin - Yoshimasa Hosoya Nishida Yuusei - Nara Tooru Komano Tsutomu - Yonaga Tsubasa Ooe Kanade - Kayano Ai Sounds like good news to me. I loved Seto Asami's Yoshino in Hourou Musuko and I've been eager to hear more since then. Yoshimasa Hosoya and Kayano Ai are really rising stars, huh... not that I'm complaining. And as I've said in the HxH thread, 25 episodes have been confirmed on the broadcaster's website. |
Seto Asami?! Hosoya Yoshimasa?! ZOMG! My favorite new seiyuus in the same anime! Maybe I will watch this later after all! (If I'm not focused on finishing Anne of Green Gables or Digimon or Clannad After Story or if college doesn't take up my time)
|
I am definitely looking forward to this. Josei with a strong female lead sounds right up my alley.
Plus Miyano Mamoru being in the cast does not hurt. I have also always been interested in Karuta (well at least since I got a pack as an extra with one of my Fullmetal Alchemist volumes). I have no idea how the game works. |
While it may have been a shoujo or josei, let's hope the heroine focused her ambition more than romance.
|
This one looks kinda interesting....
|
Josei + strong female lead?
Count me in! |
Suetsugu Yuki is really a tremendous mangaka, despite her brief exile for plagiarizing some frames. This manga was her first after sitting out a while, and one competition voted it the best of 2009.
Much as I love romance, which appears to be de-emphasized here, this may be my most anticipated show of the season -- particularly with the director of NANA at the helm. The manga is good. |
The manga is pretty good, I'm looking forward to this show.
|
This will be completely impossible to translate, because the card game they're playing basically consists of guessing lines from classical tanka poems. A large part of the manga consists of discussing the structure and content of such poems. Have fun with that.

Monitor-size TL notes.
