Chevalier D'Eon
Chevalier has been licensed by ADV Films, therefore we won't be listing fansubs here on AnimeSuki.
Since it is licensed, the following posts are no longer allowed.
You still are allowed to discuss the anime, that has not changed but please remember to limit the discussion to the story. End of edit by Mod (xris) Production I.G and Shochik has announced a new anime series (24 episodes) that may be named "Chevalier D'Eon". I.G. is currently doing Blood+ and this series is not to be confused with the Chevailers in Blood+. I wonder if any Fansub groups are going to pick this up? Director: Kazuhiro Furuhashi Story Writer: To Ubukata Synopsys of Anime: 18th Century, just before the French revolution, multiple religious cults of the dark side were engaged in secret maneuvers under the name of Revolution. "Le Chevalier D'Eon" (Knight D'Eon) a diplomat and a special agent working for Louis XIV, is fighting against those cults, and also on a mission to find the killer of his own sister. A mysterious cult organization called “Rose Cross” stands in his way, using vicious powers to create a dark creature, “Gargoyle” to over take Europe.... http://animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=8544 |
Intriguing, the real Chevalier d'Eon (Wikipedia link), who was born a man but spent a large portion of his life as a woman, lead a very eventful life it seems.
But an anime about a cross dressing freemason and super spy in the court of King Louis? I'm really not sure about this one but as it's Production I.G. you've got to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially considering how well they're doing with Blood + at the moment. |
Rose of Versailles, anyone? 8)

:) wow I love their customes and the art is great :D I shall keep an eyes on the raws
|
Um, the news said they 'announced it'. Which probably means they haven't even drawn the storyboards yet.
So I don't expect this to appear within a year. Patience, people :P edit: I stand corrected. Apparently, just like american anime licensors, they announce something very close to when they actually start releasing it. |

There's now a website for the anime - http://www.chevalier.tv/. I didn't spot an air date though and there's not much on there at the moment. Although the character designs hint at a more 'realistic' look than Blood +...
|
Woohoo! The site's up... Certainly, the character designs have a slightly more real feel to them than Blood+, but they're not like Otogizoushi or Blood The Last Vampire, which is okay by me anyway. They're by the person who did the Kurau designs, which I liked very much :).
Going by the staff I hope we can get kickass action, Kazuhiro Furuhashi's known for doing action series - the typically longer and somewhat more generic ones, admittedly, but with Production I.G. I'm excited to see what'll happen. He did storyboard that awesome ep of Noein (12)... But I'm interested for the time being, anyway. The premise sounds interesting and just quickly glancing at the introduction, it looks like they're going to put in effort to make it feel original and convincing. I sure hope they do... I hope Tow Ubukata does a good job, he's got Murdock Scramble to manage at the same time doesn't he? With Gonzo, that is. I did watch Fafner and the story improved significantly after he hopped on board to do the scripts, but let's just see what happens here... Althoguh really, Production I.G.'s been really active this past while! A whole slew of shows... For Blood+ I think they're getting outside people to do a number of the episodes, so they can spare some work from that - as for IGPX, from the look of it I think it has been carefully done much earlier on so I wouldn't be surprised if they had finished the final episode by now already. Or even before now. But there's that GITS movie, and XXXHolic TV series. Oh well. I can wait for a trailer... though if they've already got character designs and stuff I think it's probably confirmed. It says at the bottom "Begins airing Summer 2006".. They must have done some of the storyboards by now I guess... |
Thanks for the info Wao. Is it Tomomi Ozaki doing the character designs? According to ANN he/she also worked as an inbetweener on Eureka 7.
|
Today it was announced at Tokyo Anime Fair 2006 (23-26 March),right ? Any more news ?

As for new info, there's like a short bit in Japanese on it in this report on TAF day 1. There is a picture of some of the staff (including Tow Ubukata), and one new picture here And a very short bit on this page which just kind of confirms that Ubukata will at least be involved with the scripts in the anime. If he left it all to someone else it would become a bit bad... |

This anime will rock ! Any new infos about the staff ? |
Thanks for the update Blablabla.
Well based on that trailer I'm definately looking forward to this now. Production I.G has been doing some amazing work on Blood + so I don't doubt Chevalier D'Eon will look awesome and the trailer seems confirm this. Also worth mentioning is the music in that clip. It was pretty epic stuff. I wonder if it's Mark Mancina/Hans Zimmer again? Sounds like their kind of work from Blood +... |
Doesn't look bad, but like Sonhex I'm most interested in the music. Sounds very much like Blood+ (the sword also reminded me of BLood+...)
This had better be way better than Blood+! |
Is this going to be really really gory?

Wah, I love the character designs... they look so refined and mature in there! It gives off such a good feeling! It totally pwns those Blood+ designs, definitely... although maybe they still look a bit too Japanese and not European enough (maybe deeper set eyes and more definite features for some of them would have helped?)
But I think the colour design isn't very good, the shadows in daytime look a bit unnaturally dark in some places and well, maybe it's just me but the colours don't seem very effective. They don't seem to harmonize that well... oh well. Thanks for the caps, I envy you so much for being able to see it so fast! I hope it really is good; but I am doubtful as to whether IG can maintain teh quality. They should have followed the examples of studios like KyoAni and Bones who keep themselves to only 1 or 2 projects at a time. edit: And I hope the story is good...................... |

*fires up Winny madly* EDIT: Winny is dead with my crappy upload speeds! *weeps* Someone had better torrent these... |
It's more like special preview sort of thing. The actual show starts in August iirc. They had a 10 min thing with behind the scene stuff and some cast interviews. At least for this not sure about the others you mentioned.
|
I think it's like what they did with Ergo Proxy, a sort of advance first episode thing on Nonscramble WOWOW... but I thought Kemonozume's was not an entire episode, I heard it was only 10 minutes long. I suppose it isn't...
...But as a leechy, ungrateful little foreign brat who wants to eat her cake and have it, I want to see it anyway!! EDIT: Maybe I misinterpreted it and so the extra stuff is only 10 minutes but they show the first episode anyway. Oohh... |
In the beginning there was all the production stuff which was around 10 mins then they show you the episode which was around 25 mins in length with no OP and a ED.

I'm still getting conflicting info. So what is that 110mb cap floating around on you know where? Well I'll probably be able to check it out in a few hours anyway.
But from the caps (thanks), it sure looks good. |
It will air at 7pm Tokyo time on WOWOW, relieving Ergo Proxy of it's slot once it's finished.
It will air in HDTV with 5.1 surround sound. =) |
Drats... now we have to wait until mid-August.
Thankfully, there is other good stuff to fill the time. |
Everyone is focused on d'Eon and his historical origins, but after watching episode 1 I am simply amazed at the ammount of historical figures.
King Louis XV and queen Maria are obviously there, but what about these fellas... Madame de Pompadour, the king's lover. She introduces count Saint-Germain to the court. http://www.chevalier.tv/character_mi...hara_img13.gif http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madame_de_Pompadour Count de Saint-Germain, apparently the villain of the story. Adventurer, spy and alchemist, he is said to have been a member of the Rosenkreuz, a masonic order. He is said to have foretold the French Revolution that would happen less that half a century from that time. http://www.chevalier.tv/character_mi...hara_img15.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comte_de_Saint-Germain Note that both Saint-Germain and d'Eon are soon going to end up in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, together. Is this where the anime will take us? OK, now here I am simply amazed. Young Maximilien Robespierre! http://www.chevalier.tv/character_mi...hara_img18.gif http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximilien_Robespierre Wow, this anime is definitely convoluted. I can wait to see how they'll tie all of these people together. That and D'Eon and Lia becoming one pretty self, this show is probably the most exciting thing on my radar now. PS: Did you know that Lia de Beaumont never existed in actual history? She was invented by Charles de Beaumont when he went to Saint-Petersburg disguised as a girl and claimed to be his own sister. 8) |
Amazing.
This really whet my appetite. Okay... Spoiler:
but who cares? It's just too cool. The plot pacing just works by clockwork with no wasted scenes. Theres potential for more steam in this show than the one it will replace, thats for sure. |
Hi there!
Well, at first, I'm french so I'm very interrested in that show ^_- Le Chevalier d'Eon is a very mythic figure in our history and our litterature...Well, his past helps a lot!! I red an interview of the director of this anime in a french magazine and he said that he tried to stick to the historic reality but he introduced fantastic elements and reduced the plot in a shortest lap of time than in reality...^^ To me, this show will more look like 'Gankutsuou' than 'Blood +' ^^ Thx for caps, and I'm glad to see 'La Pompadour' in this (well, she was very intringant and smart woman!) I long to see what this show look like!! |

Drunk, desperate or both. ;) :D So does this guy in the anime maintains himself in a male wardrobe or wear female clothes normally? |
|
I really liked the first episode, the animation was top notch, its been a while since I've seen such good action sequences, this is definitely in my to watch list ^_^
