The purpose of this thread is to discuss, critique and idolize the Voice Actor cast of Fairy Tail. Please remember that the discussion should center on their performances as professional voice actors and not on the show content (which can be discussed in the various Episode threads). Please remember this simple rule when critiquing a VA's performance or reading another forum member's critique:

• Don't take it personally.
  In other words, you’re free to disagree with another person’s opinion, but don’t flame them if they offer a well written and well thought out analysis that differs from your own opinion. Keep it civil.
• Voice Actors are human.
  Yes, it’s true. They’re human. Therefore, don’t just indiscriminately rip them and their work apart as if they’re inorganic objects. You don’t have to praise them non-stop, but be thoughtful in your criticism.

This thread might duplicate some discussion in the Episode threads, but it can also serve to demystify various VA roles, disseminate VA information (VA Bios, VA photos, etc) and provide cast information of various types as well as discussion about performances.

Props to the voice actors for Fairy tail. I haven't really noticed anyone who's voice didn't fit the personality of the character they are portraying.

Aya Hirano does a stellar job in exhibiting Lucy's attitude. At this point, I don't think I can imagine Lucy having another VA except Aya Hirano.

We should create a single thread only for Ichiya (Shō Hayami) because he so damn awesome. Make me laugh every time I hear the guy.. :heh:
But yeah I agree with above poster, I love all the Fairy Tail cast, their voice actors are doing an excellent job.

Sho Hayami has by far the ideal playboy voice, and that's why he's absolutely perfect for Ichiya.

Pretty crazy how his playboy voice began 27 years ago with Super Dimension Century Orguss :p

Sho is indeed hilarious as Ichiya, but so far my fav VAs are Tetsuya Kakihara and Aya Hirano, because Natsu gets the gag job done but can also be serious in epic mode, and Lucy because I think that she's got the most lines in the anime :heh: Oh, and Kugimiya Rie for Happy too, since most of Lucy's interaction is Happy-focused.

I have to agree here. At the start wasn't sure about Natsu's VA, but really I have to admit they made a great call there. Does hit those comedy lines and yet has a great voice for the battles. Think Aya Hirano has done great with Lucy and handling the range of emotions that she's gone through.

Really I think everyone has done a good job so far. The main cast especially was picked well.

for sure. It gives Natsu a deeper layer of personality rather than some hot head with no brains. I'm loving Natsu's voice so much. :D

I have to admit I was rather iffy about Aya playing Lucy but my opinion changed to :love: very quickly after watching juts the 1 ep.
She has done a brilliant job here and I applaud her for it.
This would be one of the rare times where I wouldn't actually like any other VA to taken the role even despite how on the fence I was about it at first.#

The rest of the cast has been great, top notch stuff here.

It is only fitting that the glory of Selvaria be reborn as Erza Scarlet in my opinion, so I give tremendous to props Sayaka Ohara for her role and the wide range of voice-work she's able to do which I think is the mark of true talent for a seiyuu. :p

Who made the voice of the reporter (Sorceror magazine) ... I loved the "Coooooooooooool" haha ... Everytime that i remember it i am breaking down in laughs

Say, does this board allow discussions about the Funimation and Animax Asia dub actors? Because that'd only be fair to them, since they're just as much voice actors as seiyuu are. Of course, there's not much to say about the Funimation dub since it's not out yet...

I agree with everyone i think that the cast on this is great! this anime converted me to subs and iv never looked back!

It's only 2 months away... How long till we get a trailer of the dub?

They're going to release the trailer in approximately two days ago.

:uhoh: So maybe I'm going to watch it on the net/FunimationTV before I buy it... Lucy and Nastu weren't impressive for the split moments we heard them, worse they sounded like 12 year olds and not 17-19 year olds. :(

Just gotta say, i love Lucy's Japanese voice a lot. I feel like her seiyuu portrays the emotion great. I think it's one reason Lucy is my bias.

One guy that deserves praise, Daisuke Namikawa, the voice of Jellal and Mystogan. I think he knows that ladies goes for the emo guys so that's why he goes for roles like Jellal, Ulquiorra, and Yuu Narukami.

Tetsuya Kakihara is definitely my favourite voice actor on the show and I know it sounds a bit typical as he is the main character but its the simple lines & moments that make me a fan than the all round voice for example the first time Gildarts & Natsu see each other in years and natsu simply shouts "GILDARTS....FIGHT ME" had me in tears laughing just by the way Tetsuya voiced the line. A great talent.

Yukana's voicing yet another crybaby character...well, they sure chose the right one for the job :heh:

So the latest chapter is out in Japan, and according to the blogs, it came with anime news, including the first voice actor announcements for the next manga arc.
