Story:
A.T.B 2017.

Deprived of his royal heritage, the young boy Lelouch takes on the role of the masked rebel "Zero" to rise against his homeland, the Holy Britannian Empire, in a "Black Rebellion". As the anti-Britannian sentiments among the people grow, the empire uses overwhelming force to attempt to crush all who stand against it.

As these events transpire, something else is happening in Europa. Here, the European Union (E.U.) is also facing extreme military pressure from the Holy Britannian Empire, and the defense line is gradually being pulled back. Faced with certain defeat, the E.U. forces assemble a special elite task force - "W-0" - the Wyvern unit. This special unit is led by a young girl - Layla Markal, a former Britannian aristocrat. Also in the unit as a pilot is Akito Hyuga. The unit is made up of backup forces from the E.U. as well as Japanese boys and girls, together they pilot Knightmare Frames in a totally reckless operation with a low chance for survival.

Holding on to their horrifying pasts, and standing up against the cruel reality of the situation, these young people will fight against the society created by adults so they can create and protect a place they can call "home".

Just for the director alone I think I won't scoff at it. The screenshots look nice!

NeoChan 2012-01-13 03:57

So these story happens during Lelouch was busy with "his works"?

fertygo 2012-01-13 04:07

Gosh... no wonder I'm feeling some Escaflowne touch by that trailer alone.
Some unique selection there for director and music composer.

faiz blaster 2012-01-13 04:12

You know, something about that mecha reminds me of Turn-A Gundam.

Also, didn't Miyu Irino and Maaya Sakamoto worked together before (as in voiced characters closely related to each other)?

NeoChan 2012-01-13 04:15

The Knight Mares design are better than the previous. A bit busty at the chest area. Lacks external armor probably for close quick battles I guess.

rinichan 2012-01-13 05:05

why is this named OVA. i know ep 01 is set for theatrical release but overall this is a tv series right?

No 100% info on format yet

The title song is "More Than Words"? Is it a remix of that old song from that old band, Extreme? I love that song! :D

I hope I can see Lelouch again, even if it's only a glimpse. He didn't really die, right? Right? :uhoh::heh:

The ones I know are Syaoran and Tomoyo from CLAMP's Tsubasa, Sora and Aerith from Kingdom Hearts game. They both, if I'm not mistaken, are CLAMP's (and also Square Enix) favourite seiyuus (especially Maaya).

I'm actually surprised that this took a long time to come out and with a whole a lot of other new Code Geass projects. Wonder it will still be successful as the interest in Code Geass has declined over the years.

Even though the CG doesn't look bad, I was expecting 2d animation from Sunrise. The trailer was pretty cool. Loving the music.

This is an OVA? Damn, I was really hoping this would be a TV series.

It's actually taking place during season one when Lelouch first started his rebellion.

I don't think so she should be in Japan with Lelouch during the war between the EU and Britannian you will more then likely to see Suzaku show up since he was fighting some EU forces during season 1.

Someone like her, maybe. I'm sure they'll work in Geass. We know C.C. and V.V. may not be the only ones of their kind.

Maybe this will set up a way for a true sequel to R2 or a remake/reboot of R2.

Lemme post a source for why I labeled this as an OVA:

http://www.gpara.com/article/cms_sho...28775&c_num=14

Quote:

Here, Gpara states that the initial release format is that Akito the Exiled will be screened at theatrical events at 10 cinemas in early Summer 2012. But after the press conference ended, there was an interview session with the Sunrise producer. The producer is quoted as saying that "We have have multiple parts planned for the complete production, and it compromises of a pretty substantial amount of content. For early Summer what we will be screening is only meant to be the first episode."

This basically confirms that Akito the Exiled is a multi-part series, and not a one-off theatrical movie. The wording in the announcement of Akito the Exiled in the conference (I watched the stream of the press conference) is that it is not a movie, only a new anime work. The screening in 10 cinemas is stated to be a theatrical event. The word event is important, because we have to realize that in Japan, this is a very popular way of premiering both TV shows and OVAs before they start. If they don't say that it is a movie, it is unlikely to actually be one. Gundam Unicorn also followed the same announcement pattern.

As for why it cannot be a TV series, this can be explained by examining the copyright of the show. When productions are made to be TV shows, especially popular franchise ones, the TV sponsor is always on board as one of the production companies. Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion is a shared copyright between Sunrise, Project Geass, and MBS. Code Geass Akito of the Exiled is merely a shared copyright between Sunrise and Project Geass.

I think that based on the way it was announced and the information we have so far, it being a limited theatrical release + OVA format is basically the only possibly. If anyone has more information, or if I made an error in looking through the details, I'll appreciate being corrected. Thanks. :)

Thanks, I've edited it back into the first post. Too bad it's flipped though.
