I'm waiting for subs, but from what I've seen, this was pretty much the best episode of the whole show so far.
|
The episode was mind and heartbreaking.
I have too add some alcohol to my tea now... |
I mainly liked it for little Tabuki

Overall, it was good, but it could have been better IMO. |

It's going to surprise a lot of the other posters here, I bet. |
Basically as one person said and I quote
" NTR NTR NTR NTR NTR NTR NTR now I know that feel" was pretty much the summation of my feelings during the last 5 mintues. |

I don't know. Maybe it's just that I already know the intensity of Kanba's feelings for Himari and all that jaz. I want to see something new about him. This just felt like beating the horse IMO. It was more dramatic, yes, but still the same thing. But I'm just nitpicking. The episode was good. I enjoyed it too. I just don't think it's the best of the bunch. |
Episode 12 was over-Fabulous it was the perfect turning point episode.
Spoiler for episode 12:
To reply to Kazu-kun from that other thread : Spoiler for theory, symbolism:
|
I didn't understand most of what was going on since this episode was very dialog heavy but from what I could understand WOW!
But looks like I was right (mentioned it in the last episode thread) Spoiler:
As for Kanba/Himari (If I am understanding that scene correctly) Spoiler:
And if I misunderstood anything, feel free to correct me. :) |

Spoiler for ep 12:
As for your question, I would say before. Kanba is attracted to Himari and affectionate with her rather than the PoC. He is merely using PoC to save his sister. One thing in the PoC speech that picked my attention : Spoiler for ep 12 - diary - PoC:

I'm scratching my head about the choice to use real life event though. Is that supposed to build conflicting emotions within the viewer or is this anime creating some surrealist existentialist look at the kind of disruption of lives (or was it their fate or a disruption of fate) that a jarring event like a terrorist attack can have? |
Third base aint shit, but it's obvious that Kamba loves himari way before the penguindrum stuff, his over reaction during the first episode is clear indication that he's deeply in love with her in a more than brotherly way. Also it's interesting that he would go that far with "non himari" himari although they look alike he clearly loves himari and not this peguin queen. Also it's possible that the entire point of the show is to "subvert" fate/destiny, that destiny is bull shit, and that's the whole premise in the cold opening to kamba's thoughts toward hating destiny/fate.
I personally am not a fan of the himari/kamba ship as it's a little bland other than the obvious wincest lines, and consider the hunter/hunted dynamic between kamba and memory wipe girl much more interesting but wouldn't be displeased with a break fate type ending. Then again it's early 13 more episodes, but it seems to be heading toward a subversion of fate as the ultimate end. |
Finally watched with subs... well, that was incredibly fucking sad.
Is it next Thursday yet? |
NNNOOOO!!! Himari, you can't die! I won't believe it. T_T
As a side note... the Takakuras got "a boy" born on that day? Just "a boy", not "both boys"? WTF? |

Btw, the episode gets a 8/10 from me. Was a well done episode but this is so far the least impressive episode for me, even with the big reveals and everything. It just didn't click as much. |
great episode but unlike some people i wasn't that suprised.
their parents Spoiler:
i did feel bad for tabuki Spoiler:
the kanba & himari thing was most interesting. i might have a different opinion, but i think kanba's feelings change AFTER the first episode. Spoiler:
i also think that their dad was involved with the same survival strategy business as well--was the apple tree a metaphor for their mom? idk. also a question: i watched the subbed version and when the takakura's dad was on the phone learning that his wife was fine and had a baby, he used a singular "boy". it wasn't plural. mistranslation or am i reaching? just curious. |
I'm assuming that Kanba and Sho are cousins, because when they initiate the plan, we see kamba's father and someone who looks exactly like him look at each other as they proceed.
Also it's highly likely that the possessed himari is the essence of momoka, there's a reason why they don't show her face in the funeral flash back, I fell like this is going to rear it's head up and I'm putting my money on the fact that the picture is one that is similar to momoka although the hole in that theory would be when Ringo sees the transformed himari she doesn't recogonize the changed himari, but I feel like that left out picture is pertinent to the story in some fashion. |
I hope they troll us with trying to predict Kanba is not related by blood and then throw a curveball revealing that it's actually Sho who was adopted and also Himari's fated one. I refuse to believe they would kill off Himari just like that, she should be back in the next episode.

I got the sense that Ikuhara is slightly fictionalizing the Sarin gas attacks and not referring to them literally, so as to avoid some unnecessary and uncomfortable complications for the production. But it's too early to say yet.
